Works perfectly for all the fuel filters I encounter at work daily. Nice shallow design to fit snug without any slippage.

Purchased this socket to fit the “nut” part on an oil filter wrench I purchased. The oil filter wrench had the 3/8” square hole to just insert a 3/8” ratchet into, but many reviews had stated issues with that 3/8” hole stripping or breaking off. The recommended way to use the filter wrench was to actually purchase a socket to fit the “nut” that was there around the 3/8” ratchet size hole. This socket fits perfectly and eliminates any chance of me breaking off the center socket hole of my oil filter wrench. Make sure to verify what size your oil filter wrench needs, as the “nut” size is not universal. I had to purchase a 36 mm socket for an oil filter wrench for a different vehicle I own.

I went out and bought a regular socket to remove the oil filter cap. It’s in a tight spot, but always did the job. Last oil change it got caught and I was stuck for a bit. I managed to get it off and finish removing the cap without causing any damage, but started looking for a better solution and picked up this one. Works like a charm and leaves plenty of room to work in that tight spot. I’ll be using it for oil changes probably years to come.

I work in a diesel shop, and sure the tool trucks have THE PERFECT SOCKET for what? $100? Nope this little fella right here will set you straight. It fits the Detroit Diesel DD series engines with the plastic oil and fuel filter caps. Works well, it be amazing if it was 1/2" drive and not 3/8" drive, but hey that's what step adapters are for. The low profile covers the whole stud of the cap, and on certain trucks, such as Freights or Stars that have the engine in a vocational, the fuel filters are sometimes near/all but under the bulkhead, the low profile will allow you to get right on the cap with about a 12" extension just fine. I don't abuse it, but I've thrown a 24" 1/2 drive ratchet on it with an adapter and it hasn't cracked after about 6 months of day in and out use. Think I got it for around $15? Well worth it, and if it dies, I'll buy another. If you're an owner/operator or a tech in a shop, save your money and buy this socket, it'll treat you well.

The socket fits and works well. Got it for the frame rail fuel filter. If you own a 6.0 you need one.

I purchased this socket to remove and tighten the oil canister on my 2006 Pontiac G6 4-cylinder motor. Although it fits the hex my problem is with engine layout because the clearance between the filter canister and engine compartments is not enough. I am forced to crank from an awkward angle resulting in not completely fitting the cap. It is doable and does the job, but you have to be careful not to strip the hard rubber canister hex top. If a quality, lower profile socket can be found then give it a try, none were at the local stores that could even fit in the tight space like this one.
