This was a hit with my family for making fudge. The probe will read differently when fully inserted into the spoon/handle. Pull it out slightly. Checked in boiling water and it was accurate when pulled out and read a few degrees lower when fully pushed in.

Bought this thermometer and worked well until battery needed to be replaced. After replacing a new battery it now won’t turn on or off except occasionally when using reset button after many tries.

Made caramel this weekend. Turned out perfect. Clean up was easy! Before using it, We tested it in the freezer and in boiling water and it was accurate.

I love this spatula because the temperature display is part of the spatula, so I can stir my chocolate or candy with one hand and not have hold a thermometer in my other hand, or hang one on the pan. I can hold the pan with my left hand while stirring with my right. It's a dream. But the best feature is it does not auto-off after 5 seconds. Other thermometers I've used turn themselves off after 5 seconds to save the battery. That is crazy making when you're trying to cool chocolate to a certain temperature for pouring into a mold. This one stays on until you turn it off. I love that. But, don't get the part with the electronics wet. I did, and not a lot, but it stopped working and I had to buy another one. It still gets 5 stars because the manufacturer doesn't claim it's waterproof. So be careful!

The only dislike I have is that the picture made the spatula appear to have 4 fins. However, it is like a true spatula with only 2 sides.Temperature is accurate, easy to read and good quality. I would buy again.

Easy to use, easy to clean, easy to READ! I never did well with the old glass thermometers. This thing is AMAZING! I last my first one in a move, ordered a new one and misplaced that. Of course when I ordered a new one, I found the misplaced one which is fine--now I have two, lol. This is the best gift you can give a candy-making friend or relative.

UPDATE: I found a solution if anyone really wants to make this idea work. I had bought a different digital thermometer for work, one with a very long probe. I stuck that thermometer's long probe through the removable spatula portion of the broken thermometer, and it works great! It's obviously not a very economical solution, but it does indeed work, and the display ends up at the very top of the spatula and I can read it comfortably as a lefty. Here's the link: https://a.co/d/fDfSHKAI love the idea of this. I'm a pastry chef and I've always found it tricky, messy, and inconvenient to use any kind of candy thermometer--the old-fashioned kind that clip to the pot get in the way of stirring, and the instant-read digital ones require you to stop stirring and insert the probe, then wait a few crucial seconds for it to register the temp. I thought there must be something like this and went on to Amazon to find it.I bought it to use at work, and at first it did work. I was slightly annoyed that the digital readout was upside-down to me because I'm left handed. I think they should have oriented it to read in an upright position rather than sideways. Then it stopped working and I couldn't get it to turn on. I went to change the battery but found that to do so I needed a tiny screwdriver, like the kind in an eyeglasses repair kit. Surely battery compartments shouldn't be so hard to get into. Changing the battery did nothing. I reached out to customer service and they sent me a new one, which worked for a time. I actually bought one for my daughter for Christmas. Then the other day I used it to heat up egg whites for a Swiss buttercream and it only showed the last digit of the temperature plus the right side of the second to last digit. The next day I went to my daughter's house to help her make chocolate caramels, and when she pulled out her version of this, it was dead. Would not turn on at all.I really wish this worked and was reliable.
