My toddler is a mastermind with baby proof items. This however is the best thing ever.Update after 9 months of use - although I still think this is a great lock, my 3 yo has figured it out and can open it significantly quicker than I can 🤦♀️

I tried 2 other brands before ordering this one. My 3 year old had a bad habit of waking up super early and turning on the lights in his room. The other brands I tried he figured out immediately how to get around them. But this one has stumped even grandma and dad (ha!). If you’re trying to baby proof your light switch you can’t go wrong ordering this.

If you have a toddler that is determined to figure everything out then this is for you. My son can't get into it, you need 2 hands to unlock it and it's very sturdy. Don't bother with any other ones because toddlers figure it out just buy these and you won't need to try anything else!

Tried two other kinds which blended in well but child figured them out fairly quickly...so was flicking lights on and off at night and turning on switches that shouldn't be. This one so far has stumped him and let's us all rest. It is a bit difficult to unlock every morning (especially without him seeing) and can't do it one-handed...so sometimes we just don't unlock them which defeats part of the purpose for an "active" light switch. BUT, really glad to have something with a low footprint, easy to remove and install, AND has been child proof for peace of mind and safety.

By pests I mean the pain the butt kids. My 2year old loves to play with the light switches since she’s in a toddler bed she likes to get up whenever she feels like and turn the lights on and wake her 4 year old brother up. No good. I’ve tried other switch cover styles but this one is hands down the winner, as long as you don’t want to be able to get the lights on or off with things in your hands. It required 2 hands to unlock this thing unless my big mitts are just too big to do it single handed. Either way the kids haven’t figured it out and I’m grateful, just pay attention to the listing I bought 3 which ended up being 6 there are 2 in the package.

Our almost 3 year old had a favorite game of getting out of bed and turning on her lights…this little gizmo was exactly what the doctor ordered. Now, she knows she can’t turn her lights on and stays in bed at bedtime MUCH more reliably. Unlocking the lock actually takes two adult hands with some fancy finger work, but it’s not overly difficult (just enough however to keep kiddos from being able to do it). Would be great for preventing accidentally turning on a gas fireplace as well. If you are reading this review, just buy it. I highly recommend it!

Works as intended and really was the only solution for our toddler who loves to figure out the light switch puzzle. However I wished it was a squeeze action instead of a 2 handed pull outward. Luckily the 2 switches we required it for have a remote on the ceiling fan with light so we just keep them locked on and turn on and off the light with the remotes

I have ordered this 3 times and all 3 times the item is not the right one as per the description and photo as shown on this listing. I don't know if this is a seller problem or an Amazon problem but I am quite upset. After talking to Amazon ensuring me I will get the correct one next time. As you seen on the photo I have uploaded, it is not the same as this described item and I did not get the item that others have received previously. My kids have figured this out in no time and I've been desperately trying to find a kid proof solution for my sanity sake.

These are OK and they work, but they're not as pictured in the listing. There's no sliding tabs that you pull up and down, just a horizontal bar that clips into place without locking - you pry it up with a fingernail. They also don't sit flush. They're apparently designed to fit into the bevelled screw holes on the wall plate, but they don't fit into mine which means they're slightly raised and there's a gap between the guard and the wall plate. They came provided with screws, but the screws were no longer than the ones I already had. I chose these specifically because i liked the design of the mechanism, so I'm disappointed to get something else even if it does work as intended.

These child-resistant light switch protectors do what they say they’ll do. My child couldn’t get them open, not even my older child. It takes two hands for me or my wife to even open them.The gate that keeps the switch in the up or down position was tight in one of the positions no matter how I adjusted the screws or spacer so just be aware that it may be a bit tight. However, the metal pin for the hinge helps maintain the strength of the gate and the plastic seems pretty strong.The bottom ribbed button would not always engage the gate fully, but a little push on the gate or the button upwards engaged it just fine. Once you realize what you have do to secure it, it isn’t a big deal. Easy to install, did not need their screws and the screws that came with my light switch were already long enough.
