I'm not a high level player, but I have played with string instruments for over 50 years. I never had a carbon fiber bow but got this because I wanted something stable to get moving with my viola again. Cheaper than a rehair. The bow is a little more tip heavy than I expected. I like that, but not everyone would. Unlike the cheap brazilwood or even low level pernambuco octagonal stick bows, this has a secure feel. It doesn't collapse under pressure. Yet it gets into the string well. I marked it down on "light weight" because it isn't particularly light. But light weight, to me, is probably a bad thing (I played cello more seriously). Another reviewer said it had a set to the right. That was probably a problem with the hairing job. The one I received was haired evenly and well.

A viola bow less than the price of a re-hair? Of course I went for it. The first one came, I tighten it up, and it shows a pronounced curve to the right - - the bow was not straight at all looking down the frog to the tip. I've had many carbon fiber bows, and they've all been straight as arrows! So, I returned the bow, including a note saying 'please send me a straight one.' The replacement bow I got has the exact same bend - a curve to the right - so at this point, I'm just keeping it, chalking it up as a rosin-y loss. My advice: spend another 10 or 20 and get one that's straight. I mean, the bow works, it's just not perfect. I should have ponied up a bit more & gotten a more 'serious' bow that is straight. I could do a third return, but I can't imagine the next replacement would be any better. Customer service simply said "Amazon will help you with the return" so - the 2 stars represents the whole experience here. I asked politely for a straight replacement and got another bent one.
