Disassembling the trumpet

  • Remove all three valves from the trumpet. Unscrew the top valve caps from the valve casing and remove the valves. Place them aside on a soft towel or cloth to keep them from possibly getting damaged.
  • Remove all four tuning slides. The slides are the Main tuning slide, 1st valve slide, 2ndvalve slide and 3rd valve slide. The 3rd valve slide may have a slide stop screw. If it does, remove the screw.
  • Remove the bottom valve casing caps. Remove the mouthpiece from the case and put with the other parts. Place the trumpet body with the parts.
  • If any of the parts cannot be removed by hand, take the trumpet to a professional repair shop
