Squirrels periodically chew off one of our string lights and rather than replace an entire string I'm able to use the Leviton 55 Weatherproof Lampholder to make the repair. First I strip the remaining wires on the string, than shorten the wires on the Leviton Lampholder. I splice the two together and cover the splice with shrink tube to seal the connection. I paint the black wire and the job is done. I've had to do this about six times over three years and it works every time.

I purchased (as in "actually paid for") this to make a custom trouble light. The threaded socket is very sturdy and the bulb screws in and out smoothly. The insulation surrounding the socket is also strong and protective. All the connections are sealed for waterproofing. The flange at the opening of the socket does create a seal to the bulb. The leads are long enough to directly connect to a plug without splicing in an additional length of wire. Pricey for the part, but it is one of the best available. If you are working with electricity, you want the best out there.

Bought this for a pipe lamp we were making, very sturdy and fits perfectly in a 1 1/4" pipe. You will never have to worry about it burning out if your using a normal light bulb as it is rated to handle a lot of juice.

I damaged a socket on a set of patio string lights trying to get a broken bulb out and this fixed it perfectly. Cut the Broken socket off, wired/taped this one in, works perfectly, can't even tell it's been repaired.

Tell you what, I'd pay a bit extra for just a bit more wire to work with. Putting together some steam punk lamps and the short leads cramped my design ethic.

Perfect for converting fluorescent recessed lights to this A19 base for use with retro fit LED recessed trims. These are nice as they have a rubber boot around the base which provides a nice seal to the bulb. The wire leads from this piece are heavy duty and pair well with 14 gauge wire. Nice piece over all and did a better then perfect job for its use.
