Had to replace an old three way lamp switch. Was able to disassemble the old casing and reuse it. Wires attach with two screws. Inserted new switch into old casing and press it into lamp base. Voila. Works great. Saved buying a new lamp.

I had an old lamp that was hard to turn off and on. The lamp is 40 years old. The socket I ordered not only was exactly the same but was easy to install. Now it's good for another 40 years! Can't beat that!

This is a good replacement part and it's easy to install I doubt if it took me more than 3 minutes to do it. I wanted to replace a three-way bulb to an LED and this was the perfect product . It's a fair price for a good product I would recommend it. Five stars

All I wanted to do was take my cheap Wally World lamp that had a three-way turn knob switch into a simple on-off turn knob switch. I scoured the local Wally World, big box blue home improvement store, and the Helpful Place for a simple socket insert that could do this. After about half a dozen purchases and an equal number of returns, I still didn't have one. PRO TIP: Leviton makes what looks like the right part, with the word "Standard" emblazoned on the packaging, that is actually a "two-circuit" socket (with three terminals) meant for controlling a lamp with multiple bulbs that turn one on, then both on, then the other on. This is something needed by basically no one, ever--so why it's called "Standard" absolutely defies logic. Well, I DID find one that worked, but the knob was REALLY hard to turn. This was a Hillman brand socket, sold at the big blue store, and I will stay away from that brand of socket from now on.So my quest continued. "Wait," I hear you saying, "why didn't you just buy the whole lampholder that includes the socket shell and base? It's only a couple of dollars more and you can just take out the insert!" And you would be correct, EXCEPT the cheap Wally World lamp inexplicably has what is called a 1/4 IPS nipple. These are usually used in larger floor lamps, and the sockets you buy in a hardware store are 1/8 IPS, so they won't thread onto the nipple. The only alternative is to retain the existing lampholder and replace the socket interior.Anyway, I finally gave up and looked on Amazon, and I found this item almost immediately and purchased it. It arrived, I took the old socket out, slipped the wires into the new socket, tied a UL knot, and screwed down the wires onto the terminals (clockwise, of course). It worked like a champ. I now rest much easier--quite literally, since this a bedside lamp, and I don't have to get vise grips to turn the know. And best of all, I only need to turn it once and not twice to turn the lamp on or off. Life is good.
