There is absolutely no sane reason to buy this camera. It shoots film. Slowly. The view is through a small rangefinder window. You have to load the film manually. You have to advance the film by hand. Rewind by hand. Manually adjust shutter speed and aperture. It is heavy. Solid brass heavy. German engineered heavy. Other cameras do more and many of them do it just as well, or better. It is laughably expensive. It takes manual focus lenses that cost more than it does. No one shoots film anymore. Everyone shoots digital. The fact that you still want one anyway and have to buy one anyway goes beyond reason. You want one because it is beautifully, impeccably made. It handles like a dream. It is a mechanical marvel. The view through the viewfinder window is thrilling. The click of the shutter is quiet. The shutter advance is smooth. It's made by hand by human beings. It's made with integrity by people who actually care about what they make. It's not "old school" it's beyond school. It's the first and last and best. I have been a photographer for decades, owned and used Nikon, Mamiya, Olympus, and the Xpan. I loved all of them in their own way. I have sold almost all of them, too. I still own this. None of the cameras I have ever owned feel as good as this in hand. No, I don't often shoot film anymore. But I am keeping this camera because it's just too beautiful to lose. It's crazy to buy one. Unless you use it daily it may be indefensible to own one. I don't bother defending it. People do all sorts of crazy things. This is my crazy thing. I think it's the best camera ever made.
