Bought this switch to replace an old 4-speed control for a shop ceiling fan. Love the twin controls, one for speed and the other to turn the power on and off. Only complaint is that low speed is extremely slow, around 50 rpm.

I've tried them all, and when I decided to try the Legrand, which you generally cannot find locally, I was impressed. I prefer their standard switches and outlets as well. The action feels positive, very German-like. The quality is impressive and dimming is easy to control. The indicator lights are nice at night; however, I wouldn't want that in my bedroom. I am sure you can cover that up if needed. I ordered a bunch of color change kits to go with these as well to make them black.

I bought this more expensive fan controller because of the fan hum. Solved the problem!

Installed this last night with our new fan. This works great, looks great, and couldn't have been simpler to install. A couple of important points about this switch.1. This is a FAN controller, so has three detents on the slider for three different speeds. The slowest speed is VERY slow, which is awesome. The fastest is full throttle. Don't mistake it for a light dimmer. It has capacitor circuits specifically designed to manage a fan, AND eliminate the typical "hum" that you get from fans while they come up to speed.2. The box on the back of the switch is pretty much the full depth of a switch wall box. I had an older 2 gang metal box with some hardware in the back of it that I had to remove to make room for the switch on the left. If I had replaced the older box with a modern, plastic one, I don't think that it would have been so tight.3. It has a second red wire for controlling a second circuit. (Light fixture?) Unsure of how that would work, but since I don't have a light fixture on the new fan, I didn't have to worry about it.I would absolutely recommend this fan controller/switch for purchase. VERY happy with it.

Finish was great, looks amazing on the wall. Provides power to my fan, speed control, and no hum.The installation was very easy, but if I had no prior experience with electrical work it would have been very confusing. The wiring diagram is a bit complicated but from what I've seen with other products is that these diagrams are meant for people with an electrical background. Unfortunately that means that if you want to install this switch you're going to need additional knowledge to what has been provided in the package. YouTube is a great resource.
