This Leatt chest protecter is well designed and actually works. Airflow is pretty good, which is important since I live in Phoenix, Arizona. It is easily put on and very adjustable. I started using it after breaking 2 ribs in a fall.

Feels protective but not too bulky. Good enough to race downhill MTB on. It covers all my ribs and fits great (6â 200 lbs 25% bodyfat). Might buy the add on shoulder pads at some point but idk.

on what turned out to be my final DH lap of the season i washed out on some loose over hard pack right as a single track was crossing a fire road and went down HARD. You can see in the photo where i slammed on my left front then rolled and ultimately slid on my back.I bruised a rib on my left side and got a good lump right below where the protector ends. I would have easily fractured ribs had i not been wearing this. Its big and a a little bulky but after my first ride it became just another part of my invisible equipment that you don't think about, you jsut ride.Ive worn this on top of jerseys and below. after the crash i think top of jersey is best as the sliding on gravelly rock would shred your jersey.I wore this through the summer and it was warm but not suffocating.If i had to complain about this it would be for 2 reasons, neither deal breakers.The shoulders are strapped with hook and loop which is not as adjustable as it could be, maybe i could have sized down? not sure.Because this chest protector is set up to work with a neck protector there are a lot of things on it that make putting a hydration pack on. There are a lot of things the shoulder straps can get hung up on and make getting it on or off tricky at best. At the very least what ever cool point you had will be lost with the struggle to get your pack off.those two complaints aside i love this chest protector.

Hello all. I first bought the 4.5 Hydra Chest/Backpack Combo..Gorgeous Pice but the Chest Protector was TINY and the whole system was VERY HEAVY on my back when filled with Water. So I was so impressed with how comfortable the Chest Protector was I bought 4,5 Chest Protector in XXL . I am 5'-11" and205-210lbs andit fits me perfectly with lots of room to spare! VERY WELL BUILT! I am running it with a Camelbak Repak Waist 1.5L Hydrapak and i just love having all that weight off my back!!I felt so free on Sunday's Ride!

I had a scooter accident while wearing this. Going about 15mph and took a car door square to the chest....I didn't feel a thing! Just got the wind knocked out of me but not a bruise or scratch to my chest plate thanks to this wonderful protective addition!

This is my first chest protector so cannot compare to others.Needs a little more velcro on the shoulder straps for more tension, but otherwise I would highly recommend.I feel so much safer when wearing it. I gave it 5 and a half stars but the rating system does not allow it.

Used this from day one riding Winter park downhill. Feel itâs the best I could get for when I screw up. Letâs just say I screwed up on rainmaker and overshot a jump by 15 feet according to people I was riding with (thinking it was a different jump) and went Superman and crashed and burned hard. I did break four ribs under the right armpit 3,4,5 & 11, BUT the e.r. Team said if it wasnât for the chest protector I would have gotten a helicopter ride. Didnât even bruise at all on side. The impact was so hard it sheared off the pedal and cracked open my helmet.And it saved me from a tree impact also. That one hit square on the chest plate and didnât even bother me. It dispersed the impact.I was very thankful both times to be wearing this chest protector. Once your riding you donât even realize your wearing it. I do recommend you wear a under shirt. Or like me over my jersey. Then it can be taken off easily. 100% recommended.
