Comes with a stainless ball valve cooler kit and a 12 inch stainless steel false bottom. The barb size on the mash tune for the output is 1/2". All metal parts are stainless steel.

Absolutely fantastic mash tun.I have no idea who would be buying this that can’t assemble it with the instructions provided. I had it together with zero leaks in under 10 minutes without even reading the instructions.I feel like everyone that says it is hard together must be drinking to much of their own brew when they attempted it.If you can’t assemble this, you legitimately need to rethink your purchase. If you don’t understand how a ball valve works you should not be attempted all grain brewing yet, extract makes great beer and you won’t need to understand a mash tun to do it.

first all-grain brew day was last weekend. mashed 10lbs of grain at 155F and lost no temp over 60 mins. assembly was fairly easy, i added a quick disconnect to the ball valve but i dont think they would be necessary if you dont want it. the ball valve assembly in general seemed to have some wiggle to it as it was connected to the cooler, but i experienced no leakage whatsoever. I expect my brew days to feature this for a long while. 50 gold starsupdate: 2019 was a fun year with this baby. 14 brews later and this is still working perfectly as it did the first batch. I did lose an o-ring during one of my mash outs (it came shooting out of the valve) never really investigated but im sure it would be an easy fix. now during sparge i have a steady drip from the valve. not to worry! i just capture that and pour it back into the wort. no crying here! there's no way you can be doing it all wrong. right?

Overall, this product is very good and I’m glad I bought it. It beats pouring/siphoning hot liquids, including the obligatory loss of wash/wort and the accompanying sticky cleanup job. The wash/wort comes out nice and clear and free of particulate. The false-bottom design probably imparts about 100-250 mL of dead space, which is great for a 10-gallon mash tun. The Igloo brand cooler holds temperatures well.I ran into three problems with this product before I could get it to work as intended. Two are minor problems and I would consider one a major problem, although, not a design flaw. The first problem I ran into was at assembly. The washers provided did not allow enough compression to seat the gaskets firmly on both sides of the plastic wall of the tun. Thus, I had to go to my local big box store to buy new washers. But wait! The biggest washers that I would find at these big box stores were less than the 1-inch diameter nuts that are needed to fit over the steel connection. After lots of looking, I ended up using a product in electrical: locking nuts for ¾ inch conduit. They are perfect spacers to form the tight seal necessary to lock in the ball valve. Whew! The second problem that I ran into was that after the addition of hot water to make my corn mash, thermal expansion caused the seal to leak a bit. Not catastrophically so, but make sure you cinch down the ball valve with a wrench to make it tight enough to overcome thermal expansion and loosening of the threads. The major problem that I ran into was the tubing that runs from the false bottom to the ball valve. I think it is made of silicone rubber. To my great chagrin, when I opened the ball valve for the very first time, nothing came out! I had to pour my entire mash into another container. I found that the silicone rubber tubing had softened and twisted itself to the point where it was pinched off. I had to untwist the tubing and finally I got flow from the ball valve. Just when I thought the problem was solved, it happened again! I think that stirring the mash causes the softened hose to warp, and possibly the weight of the settled mash smashes the tubing closed. So, I am going to retrofit it with a copper pipe or wire-reinforced tubing so that this cannot happen again.Again, I think that this product is excellent, but you may need to put work into getting it into functioning correctly.

Good product but delivered with nipple that’s too short and not threaded all the way up. Instructions are not clear at all. I had to tighten the hell out of it and used a couple of washers to make it work. Haven’t brewed yet but I tested it overnight and it didn’t leak.

Extremely easy assembly, quite leak resistant after 4-5 batches brewed, great at holding mash temp if you prime it ahead of time with hot strike water.

Difficult to assemble without leaking, had to tighten the heck out of it. Once I finally got it assembled I brewed an AG kit, it held the temperature very well throughout the 60min mash process. However, once the mashing process was complete, I went to drain the wort and NOTHING! I could not get the darn thing to drain. I eventually removed the the hose and connections and replaced with a spigot screen. Now it works great.

I conducted a lot of research prior to making this purchace. It came down to this...I was confident that by making this decision I would receive a product out of the box that would meet my needs and expectations. That was the case. Yes, I had to assemble (15 min) but I wasn't required to go to a box store to purchace additional parts. You may be able to save a few bucks putting this together on your own but if you would rather spend this time brewing or enjoying the fruits of your labor then this is answer for you. Now for performance...during a 90 minute mash I saw a loss of 2 degrees on a 37F degree day while brewing in my garage. Also the false bottom allows for little waste and is very efficient. At the end of the day I am happy with this purchace and would make it again. Hops to you!!!

This product does not come assembled. It did not include assembly instructions. The parts included are not up to the task. I cannot stop it from leaking at the ball joint. I will have to go to a hardware store and buy the appropriate parts and assemble myself, which is exactly what I wanted to avoid by purchasing this product. Don't waste your money on this product.
