You won't let the water run dry when you hear the whistle of this tea kettle. Le Creuset constructs the traditional shape out of lightweight, sturdy steel and coats it with tough enamel. A shiny stainless-steel rim helps protect the edge from chipping and facilitates the lid positioning. The high handle can be locked in an upright position to keep your hand away from the heat, and a lever on the whistling device flips the spout open for pouring. Low and broad, the base allows maximum surface contact for faster boiling. Choose from many bright, modern colors to match or harmonize with your kitchen and other Le Creuset cookware. --Ann Bieri

Extremely pleased with our new Le Creuset kettle! The handle gets hot but not too hot to pick up. I take the kettle off the stove when not in use so it does not get greasy from other cooking. We got the smoky gray color, and this is by far my favorite kettle ever.

This kettle is more expensive than the average stainless steel kettle but it is worth it. We have had so much trouble with kettles pitting and having to throw them out. I believe this kettle will last for many years.

My wife has used a red KitchenAid whistling tea kettle for years. She realized a few weeks ago that it was worn out inside and out to the point where it was no longer usable. She knew that she wanted another brand and another color. Through our mutual research we settled on this Le Creuset in Marseille Blue. This is a classic, timeless design. It looks like it could have been made almost 100 years ago (except for the plastic parts, of course). This tea kettle looks beautiful on our stove top, and the color really pops.At 1.7 qts. it has a slightly smaller capacity than the KitchenAid. But my wife gets about 5-6 cups of tea per kettle with about 6-8 oz pours per cup. That's more than enough. What we both love about this tea kettle is that the whistle is plenty loud for us to hear in other rooms, and the water pours out hot and stays hot in the tea cup for a good amount of time. This Le Creuset may be a bit pricey but the cost is worth it. This thing is built to last, maybe even for the next 100 years.

I really wanted to up my kitchen game with some well known, quality kitchen products and what is better than Le Creuset. I had a Tea Kettle but it was a cheaper version with less capacity and did not look this nice. When I first got it I saw it had the Le Creuset stickers on it which I felt should be removed before first use. There was also a sticker on the underside of the lid which had to be removed. I will say the sticker on the outside was easy to remove and left little to no residue. The one on the inside of the lid was a mess. I had to scrub and soak the lid to remove all the sticky residue. I was going to use alcohol to help remove but wasn't sure if I should. After reading the care instructions and performing the first boil/wash I was ready to use the Kettle. I do like that the lid seals tight but not so tight you can't remove. The outside is just as vibrant and beautiful as the pictures show. I did expect the kettle to be slightly bigger but it is fine. I guess the other issue I wasn't expecting was the volume of water you put into the kettle. I am not unhappy with the volume but I wish there was a better indicator of the max volume you should put into the kettle like a physical mark or something and not just the holes where the water/steam go out the spout. Not a big deal but you almost need a flashlight to see the water depth compared to the spout holes when placing the kettle on a flat surface. The boil time is average and the whistling is good but not great. It starts off very gentle but never hits a high note. I believe this is due to the lid having an indent to allow some steam to escape out the lid which if you are not paying attention to how you put the lid on you may be venting steam in the wrong direction. It would be nice to have some sort of mark on the outside of the lid but I understand you want the lid and kettle to be uniform in color but I am sure some sort of small mark could be placed so that you are always aware where the steam is escaping the lid. To be frank I do like the kettle I just thought for what you pay I would get the best of the best, which this is in the conversation but some lacking execution keeps it out of the top spot.

I'm compelled to write a review because most of the negative feedback comes out of ignorance and not reading the care directions.I drink tea three times a day. This is my second La Cruset in ten years. I have also owned Chantal Kettles. They are equally brilliant and I would recommend them as well, but for slightly different reasons.Major complaints usually consist of 1)Dripping/spitting water 2)Melting plastic spout 3)Black film on the inside after several years. 4) Oxidation/Rust on the insides and at joints1) The spitting is simple. Don't overfill the kettle past the two holes on the inside. This is stated clearly in the directions. This causes pressure within the spout resulting in a steaming, spitting mess. The same thing will occur with 99.9% of other kettles.2)Melting Plastic Spout- Everyone who had this problem also disclosed they were using a gas stove. So this is a pretty easy fix. Stop turning up the flame past the circumference of the kettle's bottom surface. (Look at the review above mine in chronological order. They have a video. That is what you should never do.) High flames do not heat up the water any faster and you will preserve your kettle for years to come. When material is exposed to an open flame, the material usually gets damaged! This is basic 8th grade physical science?3)The Black film is caused from two things a) Mineral deposits over time from your water. b) Enamel Film that has been painted on. I don't know which it is for this kettle. Given the price, I hope it is not the second.4) Rust is natural for any teapot and will not harm your tea or hurt your health. Many tea enthusiasts encourage it for flavor. The most common cause for rust is your water supply and not the tea kettle itself. If you have a high sodium content in your water, then your teapot will rust very quickly, possibly in a few weeks. If you have softer water, it may take several years. The best thing to do is wash them every day and dry them out thoroughly. Never leave water or moisture in your kettle. This is made clear in the directions. This is a durable kettle with a beautiful aesthetic. My only complaint is I wish it came in all metal and did not have plastic accents on the spout, handle and top. However, the plastic is very durable and my complaint is no more than a personal preference. That being said, this is still my favorite kettle of all time. It is gorgeous and provides a conversation piece in the kitchen. I enthusiastically recommend it to anyone.

Attractive and functional. Have heeded others' advice though and will only use occasionally. I also make sure to avoid leaving water in it and keeping the lid off for it to dry. Also take care of it. Hopefully this will avoid rusting issues. Obviously never ever use anything abrasive inside on the protective surface.
