This is a great product. It enables flexibility to place a drip irrigation system anywhere without being under the confines of an electrical source. Having multiple satellite irrigation system's which are solar powered makes more sense than having one large system with long electrical and water lines. All in all, I am quite pleased with the product.

The front of my house is ugly. Its on a main road, and there is nothing but sidewalk and road. I have a lawn and garden, and its mormal suburbia in the back. So I spent my time making my backyard and garden looking nice before i even thought about the front. Well i finally got a couple window planters and a couple really nice stone bowl on a pedestal planters, and at least the front pops with a little natural color now. I went on a 6 day road trip about 7 and half hours south of here back on 6/20, and the weather turned out to be the first heat wave of the year. Although it had already been one of the hottest last month of spring that I remember. I didn't even know they made irrigation drip machines that weren't giant ones used for farmland, or medium ones for greenhouses. Bought this, tested it out the day before we left, and it worked as advertised. I hid the water bucket behind one of the pedestal planters. When I went away, I asked my neighbor to, a couple times, please check to see if they were alive and the soil was moist, and fortunately they were. When we got back, the plants looked as good as before. (not to say they all looked great; my green thumb isn't so green haha) It's worked just as well since we got back watering on the schedule I set. So far, so good.

I have a lot of pots and over-railing containers. I have been testing out the unit and it does circulate the water. I bought 20-gallon garbage cans for use since I have hooked up about 15 outdoor pots on a unit that are 8-12 inch sized. With the railing containers I have 3 connectors since these are long and narrow. Every day it runs for 20 minutes. I figured the volume of water that it delivers to each container is about 2 ounces/minute so I need to run it long enough to deliver about 2 cups of water which I estimated for my purposes will equate to an inch of water per week. So far it has worked. I started with 5-gallon buckets but soon decided that I need to run the pump longer which meant I needed more water. I am trying to see how many days 20 gallons might go. So far I am liking what I see but it has been a few days. The directions says that the system delivers 400 ml/min. I am hopeful the experimenting will work as I figure I can find someone to fill the buckets easier than I can find someone to actually water all the pots. I measured the soil wetness where the water trickles about 3-4 hours after it ran and it is in the moist to wet zone so that is good. I plan on running system daily but may be able to cut back on the running time. As someone else mentioned you really want the pots to be about the same size or for the larger ones you may need to insert additional emitter, which is what I did in some of my pots.

The Solar Drip Irrigation System Kit was disappointing. While the concept is great, the system lacked reliability and often failed to provide consistent watering. The installation instructions were confusing and incomplete. The worst part is trying to set up the timer. I tried and I tried, and it just didn't work. Overall, it didn't meet my expectations.

Setup is super easy. Power it on and set watering duration and daily schedule. I setup to water the vegetables twice daily for 30 minutes each since it's a micro drip system. To maximize water pressure & flow I use elevated 27 gallon tote (see picture). By doing this it provides enough water for 10 plants without any issues. It's an excellent product to grow vegetables in containers in places that hooking up other types of irrigation system is not practical. From now on all I need to do is fill up the tote weekly.
