I've got a couple different models of the Choyong radios and have grown to really like them. They are well laid out and easy to use even without the manual. It has a nice search menu that's well organized. It even has voice input for finding stations. It's a bit primitive but it works if you speak a bit slower than normal. Shortwave works fine and it even has SSB. Once you set up Wi-Fi all the features become available. Of course, you can use LW/AM/FM/SW regardless of Wi-Fi status. It also features a variety of sleep timers and alarms. The radio performance is good. It's not outstanding but works surprisingly well even on shortwave. If you don't have Wi-Fi you can always plug in a SIM card for internet. You can upgrade the firmware to keep it up to date. FM is nice and sensitive. AM is also surprisingly sensitive and even in day I picked up many stations. SW is about average but really wakes up with an outside wire. It's a great all-around hybrid radio.

This awesome little receiver promises to do it all and comes pretty darn close. It covers AM/FM/LongwaveShortwave as well as micro SD card and internet radio playback. The audio quality is excellent. There is not a lot of base, as you might expect, but nice crisp highs and a well-balanced midrange.FM reception is superior, even with the whip collapsed.Shortwave is surprising for a radio that is not primarily a communications receiver. The radio offers a range of bandwidths, and ssb reception is solid. A word, however, about SSB, you can only tune down to the 1khz range, so while most transmissions are completely readable, the ssb signal may be a bit off tuning-wise...I wish there was a to get this down to 100khz.AM is not a strong suit, although fully extending the whip works wonders. It is not a DX machine, but nice sounding on local stations when set to maximum bandwidth. Also, the display adds noise to AM reception, so wait for the LCD to turn off before rendering judgement. The Internet radio is a bit of a puzzle. But if you already have your favorite stations, they are easy to add to you custom list (I have an internet stream, www.gregradio.net), and there were no issues in getting it set up. And the audio sounds great via internet, as well.In summary, and nice sounding, does-everything-although-not-everything-perfectly radio. A great travel radio for casual listening and the Shortwave band may just surprise you. This one is a keeper!

I've received this in June, and been trying to use it on FM plus a few internet stations. Its got a nice set of buttons, however they aren't intuitive to use. The sound is good, when its playing. The FM channel regularly doesn't tune in - unbelievable seems software controlled and buggy. Playing some internet stations -including BBC 4 - a number had the audio freeze. Plays OK over my Google mini speaker. The whole unit occasionally freezes and then have to figure out how to reset it. Long Press the Power Button 5 seconds. Hopefully there will be an upgrade to make it more useable.
