My fault for not having looked at all the photos & read the reviews. This is so cheap looking & flimsy! I bought it for my college aged daughter, as she likes to do puzzles, but I simply couldn't give it to her after seeing it, as it was laughable.The mat is simply a piece of felt, with no markings & not smooth at all. If you try to lay it down flat then it bumps up from where it has been folded up.The middle tube to roll it up is an inflatable tube, which I did not see from the main photos. Though my fault as it does show it further down.The folded up mat & folded up tube came in a sealed plastic bag, it was just so cheap.I have another mat that rolls up, & it is so much better, I wish I had gotten that again. It has sizes printed on the flat mat, that is very smooth. Then it came with a foam tube that goes in the middle & you can roll up the mat around it.We have used it for doing large puzzles, then rolling them up when they were partially finished.So do not purchase this cheap thing!

I put off buying one of these for a long time because for the price I compared it to buying a piece of filled and elastic and a tube of some sort. My family very much likes puzzles and upon comparing the price much easier to just buy it this way instead of trying to DIY unless you just really wanted to. It's wonderful to be able to start a puzzle without having to try and finish it in one evening now. Before I had to start my puzzles strategically with the intent of finishing otherwise between four kids and three dogs I was guaranteed to have pieces missing by the end. Wonderful to be able to start a puzzle and then roll it up and put it away until I'm ready to get it back out. The felt definitely does its job of holding the pieces in place. The only trouble I've had so far was detaching the pieces from the felt when I was done to put it on a service where I can glue the puzzle. Just takes a tiny bit of effort though and then the puzzle is free and ready to be glued.

We actually bought this to roll up puzzles WHILE they are being solved, so our limited table space was not trapped under an "in-process' puzzle.Pros:you get a nice black background upon which to explore and solve your puzzlefinished puzzles can be rolled up relatively easily, and stored awayCons:who rolls up a finished puzzle and stores it away?? You either take it apart, in preparation for a redo at a later date, or you display it somewhere. Roll it up and store it away, finished? Na.If you try to roll up a puzzle that is unfinished, it will inevitably come apart a little, but it still keeps the pieces in roughly the same spot, so long as you handle it with care...so that's sort of a pro/con combo.The black felt mat is a magnet for all those little pieces of "puzzle dust" that inevitably accompany puzzles, so that's a fun extra gifty!

I should have listened to other reviews. This was a waste of money. You cannot slide puzzle pieces around. You need to pick them up to move. The tube that you are to blow up requires a pump, which I didn’t know. I could not blow it up so tried to roll my puzzle up around a thick towel. It was a mess. Save your money!

It is JUST A PIECE OF FELT. I thought since it was worded “mat” it would’ve been a special type of material. Never the less, it works great! It’s a big piece of felt, and the blow-up balloon and straps are needed to roll it up. Worth the money.Also, like other reviews, the package was moist, but did not smell and was dry on the inside.
