If a product needs batteries - it should say so somewhere - anywhere. How about: Batteries not included. The notice re: batteries was on a tiny piece of paper in an infinitesimal font size. To save you from squinting - you will need 2 LL44 batteries.

this is a pain to clean well so i only put cinnamon in it nothing else, but battery lasts a long time i have not charged it since i got it

I bought the pen to put cinnamon in my coffee, but getting the spice into the narrow body of the pen is a messy affair each time I have to refill it. Also, there’s no cap or closure over the opening at the tip of the pen, so spice falls out just picking it up even without pressing the button. The design definitely needs some usability refinement. After a week of messy countertops, I’m not using the pen any more and I went back to using cinnamon right out of the bottle I bought it in.

Item made of cheap plastic and “electric” function does nothing. Cinnamon just went everywhere when moving the pen around. Do not recommend.
