I’m very happy with this set of tooling. While I normally like to use HSS tools on my mini lathe, I recently needed to turn some O2 tool steel to make myself D-bits. It was hard enough even in its annealed state that my HSS tools were struggling. I had much more success using these carbide inserts and tool holders. I still had to take shallow cuts, but the end result was excellent.I haven’t tried all the tool holders in this set yet, but they all seem to be of the same high quality, so I expect I’ll be happy with them all.For the price, I think these are a terrific value. I only wish they came with more extra inserts, since sharpening carbide is not something I can (or would want to) do in my workshop.

I got this set of turning and boring tools to fit my 9 x 20 Central States lathe. I have a 0XA quick change tool post mounted on it and these tools fit just fine. The shanks are a good fit to the tool post. The boring bars are round . with flats on them. They come with torx wrenches and a spreader tool for the cutoff tool. In general I like them and think they are a decent value. The fit and finish are fine. The only thing I think lacking is identification of the various insert styles and numbers for replacement. I was able to find then out by measuring and looking up the provided inserts but it would be a good thing to list the insert style and numbers to be sure.

I have one of the Grizzly mini-lathes, and these make a pretty much perfect addition to it. There are a variety of 5/16" tools, all of which are actually indexable insert holders. Each comes with an insert wrench and is separately boxed in its own plastic case within the larger storage box.There are an adequate set of inserts included to get you started, and the inserts are pretty universal and easy to find if necessary. The tools themselves are tough and well-finished. They are rigid enough to cut hard materials without chattering if used correctly. Very nice little set!

If you want a set of small tools to use on your metal lathe then you'll appreciate this. Rotating carbide give you the opportunity to get a new sharp edge multiple times. Always wear eye protections when using any metal working tools.
