I expected the normal flimsy cabinet materials like all the others. However, I was pleased to see that these cabinets (purchased 3 of the 2 drawer vertical) are very well made, are of sturdier materials, were very well engineered, and went together quite easily. In fact, I just placed my second order (of 3) to replace the flimsy hard to open cabinets we already have. Finally a decent product for a decent price.

If you are worried about appearances or if you are a perfectionist who wants everything to look very nice, do not buy this, spend the extra money on something better.You might see a lot of not so great reviews for this, and the biggest reason for this is that the instructions provided are absolute garbage. If you do not have a little bit extra in the common sense department, you are going to screw this thing up before it’s even put together. The instructions are so bad.Another reason this deserves not so great reviews is the included hardware, specifically the small screws which are used on every panel to hold the entire thing together. I don’t know what they were thinking when they decided to use screws that are literally less than 1/2” long, if I had the time I would have went out and bought nuts and bolts to replace them. If you do buy this thing, take this advice - in the first step you are told to use 8 of these small screws, DO NOT. They will not hold and they will not tighten, if they do it is only a matter of time before they become loose. Get some nuts and bolts or some slightly larger and longer metal screws.Aside from the hardware being inadequate, this thing is just flimsy. I can push on one corner of it and it flexes like a cardboard box. Another issue is the drawers. It’s got some kind of mechanism to prevent both drawers from being opened at the same time, but this seems to also prevent both drawers from ever being flush with the rest of the cabinet when closed unless you apply force to make them flush. It’s annoying and for anyone who wants their stuff to look nice, this thing is going to be upsetting.I don’t really care about it looking nice, and I’d probably buy it again to save $50-$75 or so. I am not going in and out of my files everyday but if you are you’ll probably get annoyed with the functionality of the drawers. If you like things that look great and work flawlessly, I would just spend a little more on something better because this is not that.

The locking mechanism in this file cabinet may cause the drawers to get stuck and make them hard to open individually. After putting the cabinet together, the drawers did not operate as expected and caused me to think the item was poorly made and of low quality. However, customer service promptly assisted with additional tips and instructions, and the item is in good working condition and I no longer think it's of poor quality. It would be helpful if a warning, tips and additional instructions were placed together with the package to prevent misunderstandings. Overall the qualiy of the product is good and good value for the money. I would buy again.

Hubby and I put the file cabinet together and it was easy to install and instructions were fine and easy to follow. Cabinet functions perfectly and looks great! Very happy with this purchase.

Nice cabinet, quality material. I was afraid the metal would be very thin and flimsy, however, it's very sturdy. The drawer slides are a nice quality, and it was pretty easy to assemble after watching the video. Well worth the money. I'd definitely buy again.

I purchased this because it was made of steel and touted as being sturdy and well made. It was not. The instructions were difficult to follow because its just pictures, and the assembly drawing was so small it was hard to read. No PDF online so you could zoom in to get a closer look. The lock instructions were so vague you had to just figure it out for yourself. And the flimsy key is like something from a comic book, but it gets the job done. After getting it together I slide the first two drawers in no problem. The third one hangs up as i gently guide it onto both rails, and I discover the ill fitting slide bearing is damaged and bent beyond repair. I take it apart but it is so cheaply made it was not worth putting back in. Now I have 2 1/2 drawers as the one drawer only opens half way. I would not recommend this file cabinet. I'll probably just throw it out and buy something else as there is no way to return it once assembled.

The only reason I gave the assembly a 4 is because the drawings are not great and there is not a word of explanation for the very hard to understand drawing of the locking mechanism. My previous understanding of how the drawer SHOULD have worked is the only reason I could figure it out. I like that I was able to get it shipped to me (2) boxes to I could manage, and with a hand dolly was able to maneuver to where it should be. I also liked that I was able to put it together myself with only a little assistance to line up and put the drawers in. Overall it was a good experience.
