I am shooter and I assume this will be read by shooters - so bear with me. This is a fun tool. However, it is only fun with semiautos that have a hammer - like a 1911. Resetting for the next shot is a breeze and easy on your wrist. But with striker-fired pistols (like my Ruger LC-380) you have to rack the slide after every shot ... and that that is time-wasting and honestly ... torture. Just be conscious of your particular application. I imagine using it with revolvers would be a hoot!

Disclaimer: My experience in using this product is positive in a compact-home (~1,000 sq ft) setting; if you use this product in a very large home/garage/warehouse/etc., you might have a completely different experience. As a beginner, I didn't use the timed shooting functionality at all. I find this tool very useful in improving my shooting accuracy by aiming the target and dry-firing with laser. Within 2 hours of practice, my accuracy and the stability in holding the gun had improved a lot.I find it even more fun and useful to practice home-defense drills as playing laser-tag games with the laser gun, the target being turned off (to save battery) and a lot of ordinary objects at home as imaginary "home invaders". The laser beam blinks on the object being shot and gives immediate feedback (disclaimer again: this is in a small home where I can always see the laser blink around 30 ~ 50 feet away clearly). The drill being practiced is a realistic action plan that fits one's home when something bad really happened (though we all that it never happens). In overall, from my perspective, this is a great product, although a bit expensive; but it can save thousands of $$$ in ammo in the long term and help improving shooting accuracy better than practicing in a shooting range, where you can hardly see whether or not the bullet hits the target 25 yards away.

I've done a lot of dry fire training with this since I purchased it four months ago and it is still working perfectly.

This is no my first laser training trainer I have purchased...but it’s the best! I purchased mine of if Amazon & it arrived the next day. When I open the package I was a little disappointed I was expecting a larger target. This measured 9”x 6” made of a tough polycarbonate of sturdy construction with the weight I thought is was steel. It was packaged simply with instructions & 3 new Energizer Batteries...I was impressed! Having another laser training system I plopped it my .45acp cartridge and read the instructions. I read in another review that a laser pointer would be handy & you needed to use a LaserLyte laser I hoped mine would work on my LaserLyte Quick Tyme Target...No Sir as advertised it didn’t work! 😕Seeing how “Pricey” they were on Amazon ... I found one for $51 in EBay...🥳 I wasn’t interested in paying upwards of $100 for a cartridge... I would have sent it back!I received my LaserLyte #LT-45 laser training cartridge in .45ACP this morning. After installing the batteries and refreshing my memory by reading the instructions... I set the target in several rooms with different amounts of light “‘my other system is Useless in the day time in doors even in low lighting”I spent 2 hours with the LaserLyte target shooting no less than 500 times & it was “Fun as Hell” it works as advertised and I can’t wait to get another plus there other targets!Yes it’s a little pricey, I paid $176 plus tax & an additional $51 for a cartridge that worked with the target. But since my other system which doesn’t work except in a darkroom & is nothing but two flimsy pieces of plastic & a cartridge”Strikeman” I hit the Lotto!I’m going to give it 5 stars on everything but price ... if it proves to be durable I’ll up grade that! So with this “Pandemic” & being “Price Gouging” ammunition dealers! This is a viable & relatively inexpensive way to train.

I set it up as soon as I got it to check it out, but there was clearly something wrong: random flashing lights and no response to the commands. I called LaserLyte but they were as much use as a button on a sock, they said it “was probably defective “ and to return it. As part of the return process there was an option to talk to an Amazon tech expert which I did. Even less use than LaserLyte, trapdoor in a canoe level. The expertise consisted of reading out the instructions that came with the kit, and I’d already done that several times! I thanked him and told him I’d return it, to which he replied that wasn’t one of the options but he’d make an exception for me! Funnily enough it was an option, I did return it and received the replacement today. Maybe I’m cynical and suspicious, but I’m not convinced that this is a brand new unit: it’s not in branded packaging like the first one, the batteries weren’t installed in the pistol like the first one, and there are no Allen keys to adjust the sights. I’m going to test it hard for a week before deciding and updating my review.

This item, used to teach new users and even police and other associations is the most advanced caseless firing target I have ever seen ( for the price point ). Teaching AND showing hits with merely lase light! No, bang, po pellets on the carpet to clean. Open the box....Extract and READ instructions.Insert batteries AND away you go. Turn on your laserlyte (squeeze both buttons on the laser to activate) and be prepare to be entertained all day long/ Different modes (timers, draw times, target history and accuracy). Everything you need to become the Best Shooter you can be. Cheers gentlemen and good work...make the next lever upgradeable via internet.BLINK, BLINK!

The package works as advertised. But for a $400 plus package you would think it would atleast come with batteries, nope. The first order I made was actually defective the gun didn't work had to get a replacement. For all these reasons, only 3 stars.

Another addition to the Laserlyte line. This listing is for the target only. It comes with batteries but does not include a laser module (needs to be purchased separately).I can wholeheartedly recommend the Laserlyte LT-PRE laser module for use with any of these laser targets. It has a few key features that make it far more user friendly than other models:1) it's finger adjustable for calibers from .380 or 9mm up to .50 so you can use it in various different platforms including the plastic trainers without having to buy individual modules for different calibers (or needing a tiny screwdriver to adjust for different bore sizes)2) it has an on/off button as opposed to needing to unscrew some modules and/or remove the batteries to turn them off3) it has elevation and windage screws to fine tune the aim/point of impactFirst off, since the overwhelming majority of Laserlyte target reviews seem to neglect mentioning one very important (IMO) aspect, I tested the maximum target sensor diameter on this target, and it's about 4" in diameter. As shown in the picture, there are white rings on the target area. A hit anywhere on the largest white ring (up to 1/16" outside of it) will register as a hit (and of course, any hits inside that will register). This outermost white ring measures exactly 4" edge to edge, giving a radius of 2" from the center. On my target, the sensor is asymmetrical. The top half of the target will register hits to about midway into the outermost red part of the target, increasing the target radius to almost 2.25".The bottom half of the target doesn't register hits that far out. On the bottom half, the hits must be within about 1/16" of the outermost white ring, with the exception of the 5:30 section (5:30 on a clock face) which will register a hit midway into the outermost red ring.In comparison, the sensor on the Laserlyte Plinking Can targets is an oval approximately 1.5" high by 1.7" wide.I find the 4" diameter target size to be a much better size even out to 30 feet for reaction/draw use, where the much smaller plinking can targets would require much more precise aim (or placing the targets much closer to the shooter). There are 2 modes of operation for the Quick Tyme target. The Timer mode and Target mode (selected by shooting the lower right Set Timer/Reset target. When the counter in the lower center shows 0.0 it's set to Target/Practice mode. Shooting it again will display 9.9 which is the Timer mode). In the Timer mode, shooting the lower left circle marked Start/Display, initiates a countdown from 5 seconds with a visual display of progressively smaller lit rings of LEDs on the target at each second of countdown, with the visual countdown indicator ending with 1 lit LED in the target center, followed by a beep that begins the shot clock. You can watch the video on the Laserlyte website to see what this looks like. The shot clock starts counting time in 0.1 second increments starting from the beep until the target is hit. A hit will produce a beep and flash, stopping the shot clock. You have a maximum of 9.9 seconds to hit the target before it automatically stops the shot clock. In the Target/Practice mode, you can shoot the target repeatedly (it won't beep or flash after each hit). You can then shoot the Start/Display target on the lower left and the target will light up your hits consecutively for up to a maximum of 25 hits. This provides a good tool for accuracy practice, especially when paired with the fine point of aim/impact adjustability of the LT-PRE laser module.I gave the Quick Tyme target only 4 stars because I think it would have been even better if Laserlyte had programmed a Quick Draw/Reaction time mode without the visual countdown, i.e. you initiate the target and at anywhere between 3-8 seconds, it randomly produces a flash and beep to start the shot clock, measuring your reaction time/quick draw and fire from that random flash/beep to the hit on target. That coupled with a shot clock that can measure to 0.01 seconds would be a GREAT Quick Draw practice tool/game.Yes, you can shoot the Start/Display then close your eyes and wait for the beep, but since the countdown timer is a fixed 5 seconds, you can anticipate the beep. The best way to use this seems to be pairing it with other targets, i.e. initiate the timer, then shoot other targets ending with this one to see your elapsed time for all targets. That of course, requires you to have/purchase additional targets.Overall, this is a decent practice tool that also works as a fun (albeit expensive) game.
