This data logger measures and stores over 32, 000 temperature readings from either a K, J or T type thermocouple . A thermocouple is attached via the thermocouple socket at the base of the unit. The user can easily set up the thermocouple type, logging rate, start-time, logging mode, and download the stored data by plugging the module straight into a PC's USB port and running the purpose designed software under Windows 2000, XP, Vista & 7. Data can then be graphed, printed and exported to other applications.

This thing works amazing. I’m using it in a fairly well controlled environment and find that it’s sensitve enough for my needs. I also like how easy the software is to use and the ability to delay the start of the recording time. Wish I’d bought this one first.

I was thoroughly satisfied with the temperature recordings this device can make. However, the software that sets up the device to record and that downloads the data from the device after recording is a bit limiting. For example, the provisions for exporting the raw data for use in other programs are cumbersome.Another limitation of the software is that it cannot display the current reading of the device (regardless of whether it is recording), so there's no way to see the current reading. Because of this limitation of the software, I decided to return this model and buy the EL-USB-TC-LCD, which displays the current reading on a built-in LCD display on the device.

Software is simple but effective. If you print it with a pdf app such as Acrobat, you can easily add notes to the graph.

I purchased this temperature data logger to help me ascertain the effectiveness of energy saving measures that I had taken or was considering taking. Most recently, I used it to determine how much of my boiler's oil consumption was due to standby losses versus hot-water demand. Placing this on the boiler revealed how many times it came on when no one was awake or home to use hot water. It comes with a simple Windows software to start the data logging at the desired frequency, several options between 1 sec to 1 day, and to later download, through the USB interface, and graph the results with up to 32K data points. This data logger helped me answer questions that would have been impractical to gather by hand. The K thermocouple covers any temperature range I need. I wish I had devices like this when I had to do labs in high school and college!

The software that comes with this thing is an abomination.100% proprietary, kludgey, only works on windows.Do not buy from this company. Lascar, you need to document the USB protocols for your devices so that others can write open-source drivers for them (or else you write them). Your assware drivers are crippling your product.
