I use the blue counter and the timer when I swim laps every other day. I received the counter on October 7 and it worked perfectly until November 14. I registered for the warranty because registration page. I called and left a message on the company's general voicemail and sent an email. I got an email on a Saturday afternoon with instructions on how to return it for repair or replacement. I'll be doing that today. I can't ask for better service than that.

This thing is a great little device for tracking your laps in the pool. I wish I had one of these back in the eighties when I was swimming for miles in the pool every day. Simple enough to use, ergonomic if properly placed for pushing the lap count button with the thumb at each turn, and surprisingly does not impact my stroke like I thought it would. For me, the only downside is that my eye-sight up close is not great, so it is hard for me to quickly glance at the display to read the lap count or time, but it is in a better position than my watch to grab a glance (Note: I cannot read my watch either). That said, I am unsure if they could make the display any bigger without changing the form-factor, but if they could, it would be even better. I don't know how long the battery will last or the protocol for having it swapped out, but I will cross that bridge when the time comes. For the money, the ability to better track my laps, and my sanity the value to expense ratio for me was worth every penny!

The product functions as-described but there's no means to pause it, which limits its usefulness for casual users [like me] who may want to take a breather or chat with a friend/coach in between laps.

This device isn't overly sophisticated but does the job. I've tried to use a swim watch before but found them terribly awkward to try to read while swimming. The natural positioning of this counter is to have the face of it towards your thumb (instead of having it towards the back of your hand like a ring would be worn). This makes pushing the button easier, but also makes it easier to read as your hand does not need to rotate as much for you to see the face of the device.Perhaps I was just being paranoid, I've never quite trusted the lap counts on a swim watch. With this device, it is pretty simple to determine if you missed a lap (missed button push) or added a lap (extra button push). You can compare the shortest lap time and longest lap time to your average lap time. If you missed a button push, the long lap time is much longer (about double) than the average. Adding an extra button push means the shortest lap time is much shorter than the average. It's usually about half since you most likely pushed the button at the end of both lengths instead of the lap (which is 2 lengths). The good:- Far easier to read while swimming than a watch.- With a little practice, using becomes automatic and fairly reliable.- Better to replace a 40 dollar counter/time than a 200 or 300 dollar swim watch. It seems all of the electronics meant for water use eventually have issues (water and electronics don't mix after all). At 40 dollars, this device is a touch expensive, but still replaceable without breaking most budgets. The bad:- A little expensive for what it is. 40 dollars for a counter and timer seems high.- Must push button to count laps. It does become a reflex after a while, but even then, slip ups happen (forget to push button, push at the wrong end of the pool). It is rather annoying when you finish what might have been a personal record only to find a miss-count in laps.- I've had one go bad. The first one went bad after about 5 months. Some water got into it. But I've also had 200 dollar swim watches get ruined because of broken bands and water leakage. I've been using a second one for about 9 months and it's still working.- The gasket that keeps out water is very thin. Replacing the battery and getting the gasket back in place properly seems like it will be very tricky. My first one was already ruined and I was curious to see the inside so I opened the case (see picture).

Pros:It counts laps!Great with open turnsTells total laps, average, time, slow and fastCons:Can't undo if you press by accidentHard to tell if you press the buttonNot easy to do with flip turnsNo way to put in a rest periodNo historyNo off buttonDIED in a month of 4x per week use!Bottom line: I would not recommend.I initially enjoyed using this lap counter. I recommend the use only with open turns - when I worked on mastering flip turns it was harder to get situated again to press the button. It was really disappointing if I pressed the button by mistake that i couldn't take away a lap and that I couldn't somehow note a rest between sets. I did like seeing my total laps, swim time, averages and slow/fast laps. I didn't like that there wasn't a history. It was convenient on my finger but I wasn't always sure I pressed the button so I would have to check if it registered.I used this item maybe 20 times, when I went to turn it on yesterday it was dead. I always rinsed it in the shower as recommended in the directions and reset the time to zero. Unfortunately it was 4 days outside of the 30 day return/exchange policy of the store and amazon. I reached out to the store to see if they would help me and they declined. I typically buy on Amazon (A LOT) for the quality, ease of returns, etc., but this window was less than any other store I go to and I'm out $40 with no lap counter.

This was an awesome investment. It was purchased with a gift card received from ATT! I am swimming a mile + daily and found counting laps in my head monotonous. Decided to search for a lap counting device. Found this! it is PERFECT. fits on my index finger - just use thumb to mark the laps. it keeps track of each lap time, total time, total laps, and fastest lap and slowest lap. Only draw back is I havent quite figured out how to STOP my laps and get the final lap time accurately . . . If i hold it down it eliminates the final lap . . . If i click the final lap and THEN hold button down it thinks I have swam another super QUICK lap and that becomes my 'fastest' lap. So I opt to eliminate the last lap so I can still know which lap was truly my fastest. Helps keep swimming fun.
