I was very hesitant on these based on varying opinions on whether the driveshaft comes apart or not, especially the 3 piece driveshaft. They do indeed come apart, it takes some time and effort but the whole job isn't that bad. Much cheaper than replacing the whole driveshaft.

These do work in the proper application and the shaft does come apart. The splined connections are not staked. The u-joints are staked in but one could machine the stakes away and replace those as well if needed. It does take some force to get the shaft apart but if you are determined it does disassemble. That is how they assemble it at the factory (splined joints). The splines are keyed so they only go back together one way. I rebuilt mine and got it back in and the car drives fine now. If you want to save ~$350 and don't mind getting your hands dirty these work just fine.I would give it 5 stars but it has cheap Chinese bearings.A lot of un-rebuildable components can be rebuilt if one is willing to put in the work and get a little creative.

Bought for my 2007 Ford Edge. I was told these couldn’t be used- the whole piece had to be replaced- however, it’s possible. Glad these were available.

On my 2008 ford edge after removing the driveshaft to change center bearings. I realized the Driveshaft could not be disassembled. After trying many different ways to try to take it apart nothing worked. I reached out to a mechanic that specializes in driveshaft repair and manufacturing. He told me that the driveshaft for my vehicle has a pin inside that melds together once it is manufactured and becomes a solid piece. So to save ford owners some time. Just buy the driveshaft and replace it and to save even more money don't buy a ford especially with awd.
