Had to re-install one bearing set as I did not get the threaded strut rod tight enough last time and it wore the previous bearing opening into an oval, allowing the strut to move and make a frustrating clunky sound. I had a professional mechanic diagnose where the sound was coming from and, rather expectedly, it had to do with my mechanical insufficiency. He wanted $1400 to fix this, replace some sway bar bushings, and do a rear brake job (shoes only, rotors were fine).I ordered parts from Amazon, watched videos on YouTube for a couple hours, and did the work myself at a substantial savings. I will take the Lexus back to the mechanic for a proper alignment since I've removed and re-installed the repaired front strut.KYB is the preferred brand by several mechanics with whom I inquired. You really can't go wrong with their stuff unless you order the wrong part. Be careful to make sure what you are ordering is what you actually need.Cheers, N.

Exact part and fit for my 2005 Lexus RX330 - cost fraction of the price from the auto repair shop I used which allowed me to purchase my own parts and bring them in for install only. It has been installed for about 1 year with no issues and cannot tell any difference from the drastically overpriced OEM equivalent that the dealership quoted me.

Receive new SEALED partReplacing old part that separatedI re-edit review if this part doesn’t fitNote: mounting plate had the numbers SMT4989 and SA1812AEDIT: the center nut when installed, is biased more to the outside edge. So much so that you can’t put a thin wall socket to it. I remove the bottom bolts to see if there’s pressure causing it to bow; It stayed in a similar position. Service Manual states screw top 3 then bottom 2. Also I keyed the 2 matching slats of the strut mount to the top of the strut rodAlso the (M) symbol on top similar to another customer was also on mine.For an extra $20 without the bearing you can get the toyota factory part. 48609-08020. Some dealerships give good discounts. $81.77.Research also says KYB makes shocks, not the accessories/pieces.I can not recommend this part. Returns are for unused parts. Do a visual comparison of the angles. Once you put it in it’s yours.

Old mount collapsed until spring seat was rubbing on mount bottom. Noisy and steering was sticking. All cured.

When I replaced my struts with at 120,000 miles I replaced the front strut mounts also. Nice that Amazon made these available!
