Bought this to fit into an entry door for a condo built in the early 1970's. Fits perfectly fine, just make sure you install it the right side up otherwise the keyhole will be flipped upside down.

as soon I removed the face plate the backset stopped functioning. I've installed over 50 door handles now and I've never once had an issue with removing the face plate. upon looking into getting a refund, this seller doesn't offer refunds. on a product that doesn't work. never buying from this seller again.

Purchased some door handles advertised to fit most doors. My doors happened to be a longer 5 inch. Could not find official Weiser replacement however this looked like it might do the trick and they did! Fair quality these worked just fine.

Ordered two of these, first one I installed jammed immediately after installation and now does not move no matter what I do to it. I installed the second one without any issue, but the deadlock plunger does not work properly (this was true for both that I purchased). The plunger is supposed to stay pressed in upon closing the door to keep people from slipping the lock open with a card, but when it stays pressed in with this latch, the handle no longer works. The handle only properly opens the latch if the plunger is fully extended and you can only get it to do that if you press the door further closed than it is supposed to be.It would be strange for me to get two faulty latches, but that might be the case since there are so many other good reviews, who knows though.Amazon says this is not eligible for a return but is eligible for replacement or refund, but that is proving difficult so far and I think it's gonna turn out to be a total pain.Overall, get a different brand if you have the option. This thing is built like absolute garbage and I don't think it would last long even if it did work for me.

This did the trick, but the build quality is lacking. Out of the 6 I ordered 1 was faulty and 1 broke (to be fair, that one is mostly on me). I did actually find myself locked inside a room because of the faulty one. It didn't extract itself from the door jamb all the way. Fortunately, I'm not claustrophobic and my 9 year old son was able to help slide a few tools under the door, rescuing his dad. You won't believe the mileage he's getting out of that story let me tell you. Be sure to double check that the thing works properly before you install it and get locked in (or out).The Q&A on this page says that these are compatible with Weiser knobs. I tried the Safe Lock Bed & Bath privacy knob model 60837-001, but they did not work. The Q&A also says that these are compatible with Defiant knobs. I tried model 1000-165-738 privacy knob, and again, these are not even close to compatible. They do fit Kwikset knobs, but that's sort of an anticlimactic ending for the adventure I've been on over the last month.

A few months ago my uncle called me and asked if I had any use for an old door that had been in his house for 50+ years. The house originally belonged to my late grandparents. I love old, high-quality wood furnishings, doors, door frames, moldings etc...He had replaced it with an all-glass door and knew I would be interested in it. I got it home. Cleaned it up with some Murphy's Oil and was all excited about it. It included the original door knob and recessed door knob backplate. I then glanced at it and thought, "Why is that doorknob way over there?" I'm not hardly old enough to remember when 5 inch backsets were common, but knew that's what I needed. I tried Home Depot, Lowes, even Wal-mart, but none of them had them or knew where I could get one. I even asked an older contractor, who gave me what sounded like the best advice, "Just use the backset that is in the door with a new knob and lock." So I started working on getting the old door knob off which was a lesson in patience since I didn't realize it all removed from one side first. That's also when I realized I couldn't use the old backset with a new knob. It was built into the old door knob. I did what any reasonable person would do and opened Amazon. There it was. The Kwikset 3014-01. I was so happy, I upped the shipping to 1 day. As soon as it arrived, I popped it in and it worked perfect with my new door knob and was even able to retain the old knob's backplate. Couldn't be happier. Hopefully Kwikset will continue making these since I have 4 other doors I would like to eventually exchange for older doors.
