Mine came with instructions to re-key but not install. Not a big deal, I've done this a few times. This one was different. You don't take the long screws all the way out. The screw holes on the interior half of the set are keyed or notched or something like that. Hard to explain but long story short, easy install and quality materials.

i don't know if it's because kwikset was cheaper than schlage, but i had a little trouble installing this kwikset passage doorknob. as probably many mention, it's annoying that the interior knob doesn't click off so you can fasten the long screws easier. on our older schlage it does that. anyway, this is 2024--so i made it work. however, the long screws did not go in easy. and i felt like i was stripping the screws slightly with my philips screwdriver. NOTE--that's a sign that perhaps something is not perfectly aligned. after screwing it all in, the knob was sticky. it would not release like a normal knob. so i watched some install videos to see if i messed up something. in the end, i just uninstalled and reinstalled--and it worked fine. this time the long screws went in easily. so it was probably my install error that messed up. still, it's not nice and loose like my old knob--but hopefully in a few weeks it will loosen up.

I'm impressed with this door knob. It came with all the installation hardware which made the setup process a breeze. Another plus is it fits standard size doors perfectly. The locking privacy feature is top-notch. The knob is a bit stiff, but nothing too major. It looks great on my door. Highly recommend if you're in need of a privacy knob.

I have bought many kwikset locks in the past they have been very good and easy to install. Now they have changed the lock. Designed to be easier to install but I think they are actually harder to. The easy on screw slots are supposed to make it easier to assemble but actually they make it harder to. The striker plate doesn’t leave much room for the lock to catch. I like the older design better but it’s still a good lock. Bought this lock to replace a Schlage lock but this one would not hold the door tight. Change in the game. Had to install the lock on another door that had a window blind that go's over the patio doors. This design was very useful. I didn't have to take the window bling off. Made it easy to install so I guess it has hidden benefits that normally you may not use but if you do I can see why they designed it like this.

I used this as two dummy knobs on a set of bi-folding closet doors. Doing that met making some modifications to the knob. It all worked out nicely for me.

Used this handle to replace a non-locking handle on my bedroom door. Matches the finish of the other doors in my home and was very easy to install. Good quality handle. Recommended!
