These are well made and sturdy, look to be 16ga metal. Well worth the price. Just realize they are raw material for your project. Good welding and fabricating skills needed.

I was restoring a 1985 boat trailer, with home made fenders. I found a welder that would Tig Weld the skirts on. I have an Arc Welder, but it would only blow holes through. These are heavy duty fenders and work very well! When we get in the boat on land, we jump on these fenders and they are very sturdy ! Great Product!

I had a blowout on one of my boat trailer tires which took out my original trailer fender. I sized these fenders to try to get the exact replacement, and this fender was the closest for the price I could do. I had to prime, paint, and topcoat the fender and of course drill them in the proper places. They are a slight less gauge then the original but I can easily stand on them without fear of them buckling. They come with a slight oil based coating that must be removed before painting, but I am very happy with the outcome and speed at which they came...would purchase them again if I have another catastrophic blowout.:-)

I decided to teach myself how to arc weld, so my first project was this trailer. The fenders come in two parts and must be welded together before mounting them. I did burn two holes into the fenders but as I said, I am teaching myself how to arc weld. Once I turned the welder down to about 75amps to compensate for welding on sheet metal, everything was fine. The fenders turned out very sturdy and I just don’t think it’d be worth trying to make your own. This was certainly the way to go!
