About this item

  • This listing comes with your choice of Koshi Chimes and optional additional accessories. Check out all of the add-on options!
  • Koshi Chimes have four melodic tunings inspired by the elements: Terra, Aqua, Aria, and Ignis. When sounding together, the chimes roll in rich, harmonious overtones reminiscent of the elements' coexistence in the sublunary sphere. Picture pure elemental balance, bliss, yin and yang in sonic form.
  • Each chime is made from eight metal tines attached to a metal base inside of a bamboo resonating tube. They were developed by Kabir, inventor of the Shanti Chime. After 20 years of experience creating and experimenting with chimes, he developed a new tuning technique which yielded deep tones, rich harmonics, and full overtones. These chimes are perfect for sound baths and sound healers.

We also offer the full set of 4, with OR without the Chimefornia Chime Stand, Songbird Chime Stand, or Moksha Stand.
PLEASE NOTE: You can put Koshi Chimes outside, BUT like all wooden objects, if you do that, it is best to treat them regularly with a protective oil such as colorless Tung or Teak oil. It is best if they are not directly exposed to the rain. If you didn't pay heed to this warning, and who already have mold, it can be cleaned with a little diluted bleach.
Koshi Chimes have four melodic tunings inspired by the elements. When sounding together the chimes roll in rich, harmonious overtones reminiscent of the elements' coexistence in the sublunary sphere.
A high quality and original creation, the Koshi Chime is an authentic musical instrument...played by the wind. (But yes, you can certainly use your hand to get out the magnificent tones inside as well.)
Handcrafted with precision at the foot of the Pyrenees, Koshi Chimes are designed with eight notes. The notes are metal pieces welded into a plate at the base of the resonating tube. The tube itself is made of thin layers of bamboo veneer treated with natural oils. The veneer is stronger than natural bamboo and makes for a much sturdier chime, without losing the acoustic qualities bamboo is famous for.

I've owned these chimes for quite some time now. Initially, I purchased all four to complement each other, but I discovered that having all of them can be overwhelming. It's challenging to appreciate the individual notes amidst all the ringingy, resulting in a noisy and muddled sound. Therefore, I'd recommend starting with just two and gradually adding more as needed. One drawback is that the ringer is made of plastic rather than metal, which I believe would produce a better resonance.Typically, I alternate between two sets of minor chimes and two sets of major chimes. However, I'm mindful of my neighbors, especially those in nearby apartments, so I remove them at night and during windy conditions to prevent any disturbance.

Way way way overpriced. The music part is a 2.5" steel washer with 8 different lengths of 1/32" aluminum rods welded to it. Then stuffed and glued into a bamboo sleeve, with a string from which to hang it. Then a rock to bang against the aluminum tines. I could see $15-20ea. Mostly for labor. Probably $1.25 for materials. Definitely not worth $62.50ea.

I ordered the set and they are very nice. A little smaller than expected but pretty sound. The only thing I wish that each of the chimes was labeled so I know which one is which. The box it comes in is labeled but the actual chime is not. These are nice for sound healing and pretty much make noise with your movement and not designed to blow in the wind.

I have an obsession with wind chimes, and when I heard the Koshi chimes I fell in love immediately, and even though they are super expensive, I let myself go with my heart and order them. I even had the space on the console where they were gonna go, and would look beautiful. They would have been in front of the strong fan I always have running in Summer, which I would turn on to have them play while I meditate.Well, they are indeed beautiful, well made, light, and the sound is just mesmerizing, but even with the fan going at full blast, they only started playing when I put it a foot away from them, and then not in a harmonious way. They are not designed to play with the wind. The catch on the bottom is not wide enough I guess. If I were to put them outside, where strong breezes can catch them, I am certain they would be lovely, but there is no way I will expose them to the elements. I also don't think they would survive a strong gust, they are too delicate. Not to mention the humidity, they would rust in a week I am sure. (I live in a humid place)So, if your expectations are to have them serenade you constantly, it won't happen. You have to hold them and play them by hand. They are instruments. If you are an energy worker, I can see how amazing they would be to use. But if you are not planning on holding them and playing them for your enjoyment, they will just hang there.I might keep one or two to do just this, but if you, like me, are tempted to just order the four of them, and you are making a financial effort to do it, don't. If you have the money, absolutely. They are beautiful and a conversation piece.I am planning on just listening to the beautiful YouTube videos of them playing.
