The holes in shelves may look square but does fit round leg. Elaborate instructions are provided in the manual provided in the package (one side has Square Legs assembly instruction and the back side of the same manual has instructions to fit Round Legs).

2. Do I need any tools to assemble the plastic shelves with press-fit round legs?

No, you don’t need any tools for assembly. The press-fit round legs are designed to fit into the shelf's base by simply pressing them. You may use a rubber mallet or one of the legs, if necessary, to insert the leg into the hole in the shelf.

3. Are the press-fit round legs sturdy enough to support heavy items?
