Honestly, I'm writing this review because I'm just genuinely impressed. I bought this tape measure back in 2010. That's right, 2010. And it's still kicking, working just as smoothly as the day I brought it home.In a world where everything seems to break or wear out quickly, this tape measure is a testament to solid construction. What I love about it is the self-locking mechanism. It's so smooth and reliable. You pull the tape out, and it stays right where you want it. No slipping, no fuss. And the push button release? Perfect for controlled retraction. The numbers show no signs of wear or fading, and the fractional graduations are still clear and easy to read. It's just a well-designed, well-made tool that does exactly what it's supposed to do.I know it's "just a tape measure," but it's become a trusted part of my toolkit. It's like a reliable old friend that's always there when I need it. It's a reminder that sometimes, you can still find products that are built to last. If you're looking for a durable, dependable tape measure, look no further. This Komelon is worth every penny. 5 stars, and a big thank you to Komelon for making a product that actually stands the test of time!

I love that it stops automatically when you extend the tape. In every other way, it works well. Easy to use and measure, slides back easily, etc.

16 foot tape measure are the best in in wood shop. Long enough to be useful; but light enough not to weigh down your pants. The 1in width is also more durable than the 3/4in.Nice!

This 12-foot Komelon tape measure is durable, accurate, and super convenient with its self-lock feature. The markings are clear and easy to read, and the lock holds firmly without slipping. Perfect for quick measurements at home or on the job. Compact and great value!

Looks great, but my biggest issue is the self lock mechanism. I'm not sure it gradually got worse, but at 6" it locks fine, at 5 ft -- it's no where near locking. Very annoying to use, and because it supposed to self lock, there's no way to manually lock it. Around 4 ft is the tipping point. This has gotten very light usage so can't blame heavy use causing the slippage. As others pointed out, the lack of metric measurements is also a major inconvenience - didn't realize it would be when I bought it. Also the one I'm using around the house got a few nasty bends/wrinkles near the beginning because people in general expect the button to lock, not free up the tape, therefore it's drawn in rapidly resulting in some damage to the end. Probably not much can be done about that though... At this point it's time to trash it and replace it with something that can hold a lock at any distance it's capable of. It's a waste of money for me and I bought two - one for the house, one for the office.

First of all, once you get accustomed to using a self lock tape, you'll never want to use the alternative. These tapes are well constructed. Good tape stand-out. Easy to read fractions down to 1/8th inch markings with 1/16th unmarked lines added. The only "frill" the tape doesn't have is magnets on the end of the tape. But honestly that's one feature I rarely use as most of the time I'm working with wood.I highly recommend Komelon self locking tape measures. Go ahead and get a 12 ft, a 16 and 25 foot as they all have there usefulness and purpose.I have over a dozen tape measures and the wife says "you have too many". Until a recent bathroom redo project at which point she realized that there is no such thing as "too many" tapes!

As soon as I ran across this tape, I ordered one. And now I've ordered a second. It is accurate and easily readable in Imperial with full markings on one edge and fractions of inches on the other edge. And well priced.Others have more & different features (eg, FastCaps which are great). But the main value with this Komelon is that it self-locks. Turns out, that adds more value than any other feature for me. Why bother with a locking step each time it's used--who needs it? And the unlock button is very light.I'm going to get rid of most of my other tapes now. This is my favorite.

Tamaño muy bueno para la mano y los número se ven muy bien, me hubiera gustado que estuviera graduada por los dos lados

I needed a small light but durable tape for woodworking that have easy to read fractions markings.I owned a Komelon larger tape and was impressed with the quality so I decided on this model.Again excellent quality, easy to read fractions, auto locking tape, very slick release button that felt great, rubber grip and the tape itself has a thin protection film which prevents nicks and rusting. When the tape retracts its not a quick whipping motion which I like for a workshop since some tapes retraction is so quick if your finger is hit its very painful.Only slight negative the tape claws is pretty small so it may slip once in a while if not hooked properly.

Update: March 2018 - after owning this for a little while under light-duty use, the tape now sloooowly retracts so if you set it down next to something at a specific length, so you have to keep on making it longer again. Quite annoying.I own a few tape measurers, but the one I liked the most was the Stanley Fatmax tape measure. I liked that the weight and the rigidity of the tape itself. It is my go to tape measure. My wife wanted a tape measure with fractions so we searched and landed on the Komelon tape measure. It is a nice tape measure and the self lock is definitely nice for short runs, but for longer runs, the self lock does get in the way as you constantly have to pull on the tape and re-adjust. The other issue is that the tape itself is a little thin and not as rigid as the Fatmax so it is a little cumbersome to have it lay flat on longer runs and it does tend to twist. It is the best option in my opinion out there if you want a tape measure w/ fractions marked, but could be a little better.

Simple review here - this is hands down the absolute best tape measure I have ever had. This does not have features like a crazy wide magnetic hook on the end, gradation on both sides, metric, or super long standout - those are features I do not need. It is awesome at being a good, simple, compact and cheap modern tape. The case is extremely durable due to the rubber wrap, has excellent ergonomics/grip, and the self-lock mechanism is perfect. I don't know why all tape measures aren't designed like this. I originally had a Classic Self-lock (the chrome one) which I loved, but the fractional graduation on this one rules. If you get this tape and are on a jobsite with guys you don't know that well, if someone wants to borrow it make them give you their drivers license to ensure you get it back. The only reason I had to buy a second one of these is because someone walked off with my last one.
