This item was exactly what I wanted. I have used Kolpin gun boots for over 25 years and am very pleased with them. Wish I could have gotten it in camo.

XL in this case means extra large capacity, not length. It fits anything I need it to. The XL also has a few attachment holes that I don't think the (L) model does. This is a great case on its own or especially with the snap-in mount for an ATV which is also well worth the price. The case is rugged. The flip-open, lockable gate works well to seal out the elements and opens/closes silently.. The removable quilted liner has both a zipper and a magnetic closure. I have not seen it bind when loading or unloading as was a problem with my previous case. Velcro stays hold the liner securely in place. Kolpin has developed a winner here.

If you have a bolt action or semi-auto WITHOUT a pistol grip this is great. Add a pistol grip and scope and this won’t work without modifying it. Even my AR with scope won’t fit in this unless I take out the included padded gun sleeve. I have a Savage Model 10BA Stealth w/ scope with target knobs and bipod. If I take the bipod off and pull the gun sleeve out I can force it in, but that can’t be good for the scope.

If your scope has an objective of 50, the rifle will not fit. For the extra large case you would think they would account for that. They definitely do Not!

I have a Bolt action 22 lr with a large scope. It barely fits. Really tight fit. Disappointed. Would not recommend. Kolpin should bring back the tactical model they discontinued

I upgraded from the Koplin Gun Boot 6.0 to the Stronghold XL. I love this version. They fixed all the things I struggled with on the 6.0.- I bought this mount for Polaris Ranger: Kolpin Stronghold Auto Latch Mount (UTV Polaris Lock/Ride Compatible) - 30815- The mount secures easily to any side of the Ranger bed. Sturdier than past models.- Mounts to the back side of the bed w/ no issues opening and closing bed tilt.- It comes on and off the mount easily so you can quickly bring the whole case into the house or tent.- Fits AR w/ long 30MM scope (+sunshade), full A1 stock (non-collapsable), sling, some bipods fit, not all.- Fits all my long guns: Scoped Lever, Shotgun, Scoped Rifle, Scoped AR- The unit has lock points where you can fasten your own lock to the mount and to the case opening.- Opens and closes a lot easier than Gun Boot 6.0They got this one right. Great product!
