I always check oil filters before installation as I found some name brand filters that were dirty inside with grit and metal shavings! But this K&N filter was spotless inside and with quality construction, it definitely is not a cheaply made filter.

Well on the outside it looks good but I won't know how good it is till my next oil change. Then I'll cut it open to see if it is as good on the inside as the outside. I've used K&N air filters and I like them. I've never tried their oil filters. This is my first. K&N has a good reputation for their products. I've used NAPA & FRAM oil filters in the past and NAPA was better than FRAM.

Cheaper than the K&N oil files with the nut on the end and equal quality. Cheaper than the big box stores. I have had great luck with K&N oil filters and have never had one fail on me. I maintain 9 vehicles for my friends, family and myself. I use this brand of filter in all of them . Thanks.

To start off, I have 98 Chevy K1500 with a 5.7L Vortec in it with 214,000 miles on it. I have been using the Quaker State Full Synthetic 5W-30 with this oil filter since I have owned the truck. Now, my truck runs like it is fresh off the factory floor. I was curious about why this was so I sent an oil sample off to Blackstone Labs. In the mean time, let me tell you about what I have found when I do my oil changes. I currently change my oil religiously every 3,000 miles. I know a full synthetic can last way longer but I do have harsh driving conditions and I have an older engine I want to keep running like new. The oil always looks great when I change it and I recently cut the filter in half to see what the inside looked like (refer to Youtube videos to see more about this) and I found a filter that was doing its job just as it should. There was grime caught in the filter just as their should be and the filter still was clearly functioning well. Back to the lab results on the oil...They were perfect. There was not a single category that Blackstone deemed out of the average measurements. Honestly, I will never go back to any other oil filter or any other oil brand as the results speak for themselves. While this filter costs a little more than a Fram, I would pay 5 times as much for this filter over another simply because of the quality and results I have received. I will be buying these a lot more as it is all I run and I would highly suggest this product.
