These are good filters, I've never had an issue with them. Is it overkill? Maybe, but I hate fixing engines.

k&N is know for the best and I prefer to use this brand but it's a great oil filter and I know others out there that are good too and it's a perfect fit and easy to install

There was a point in time when it seemed "an oil filter is an oil filter- just buy a name brand"....well not anymore. Once I saw from both experiencing and seeing YouTube videos the difference weigh even name brands I changed my mind. This is a good filter- solid metal internal construction, silicone drain back valve. Conversely- the most well known filter company makes the worst quality filters (the orange ones). Even though this is K AND N's standard and not racing line, it is still good quality. Price is competitive, but even if it wasn't what is a couple bucks for setting as crucial as your oil filtration? Worth it.

These are very good filters for a very good price. No, these are not the K&N oil filters with the wrench nut on top so you still need a filter cap to remove/install. But, these are the real deal.

I use this filter on a 2007 Buick Lacrosse with a 3.8L V6. I also use this oil filter on my 2005 Chevy Silverado 4.3L V6. This oil filter can handle a 6-8 month service interval without a problem. This is impressive for an oil filter costing less than $6.00. Thanks to Amazon I can perform a premium oil change using high quality full synthetic oil and a premium oil filter for about $28.00.

I used a few of these in my '08 Grand Prix V6 and so far, so good. Very high quality filters, extra filter material plus metal internals. They have a good weight to them, heavier than your bottom shelf basic oil filter.They are very low priced here on Amazon and the same if not less than the average filter, yet perform better. I have used both conventional and synthetic oils, no problem. I do not race but can recommend these for their quality. I do like having extra protection and better flow for peace of mind, nothing like pampering your engine. Take care of it, and it will take care of you.As a side note, all of this specific model (PS-1001) that I have received have a silicone anti-drainback valve installed.

This is working just as good as the STP oil filter I would buy from Autozone. Cost about a dollar less too. The real test would be to cut it open and see how many pleats are in the filter and if it has a spring inside. Has been on my car for about two months and no issues.

K&N is the acknowledged leader in oil and air filters. The only other air filter I would get is an AFE Pro Dry S but that is not the product being reviewed. K&N has a "Gold" series oil filter that costs about $5 more and has a "nut" on top for very easy installation and removal. The Pro Series oil filter, like the one in I ordered, does not. The only differences are the "nut" on top and the colors on the oil filter(s). The filtration, flow rate, restriction rate, burst strength, and materials are all the same. Low restriction means high flow rates. Larger capacity means cleaner oil. Anti-drainback valve(no bypass or relief valves) ensures good protection at startup. The Pro Series is cheaper than the Gold series but quality and protection are not lost in buying the cheaper of the two, only the convenience of installation and removal.
