This IS the way to go! Great quality in every aspect in my mind. I've even transfered old tapes to the memory card (and synced it to mp3) and the sound there even blew my mind! So easey to comprehend and do, a 3 year could do it. And no need to download any app that asks you to disable security on your computer to use (won't mention names). Even the ear bud's that are provided are of excellent quality, and are magnetized, to keep better track of them (thats what it means for me anyways). I could go on for pages, but I won't. I will say, I hope the company sees this review, and will consider sending me a shirt, or a ball cap so I can rock it for them wherever I go, while jamming out on my Klim tape player ( a twinkle off of my teeth as I smile)!

Really good item. I’m able to put my old cassette tapes on my computer now. Sounds great when playing them. Really appreciate the packaging it comes in. Plus getting a 16 gb mini card with it is really nice. Worth getting this if you have old cassettes that you want to digitize.

My late husband was a DJ on the radio when we met. He made a demo cassette tape in 1990. I found it as I was going through some of his things, but I had no way to play it. I bought this cassette tape player and it worked wonderfully and it was so nice to hear his voice again! It’s definitely a cherry item. It works great!

KLIM K7 Cassette Tape Player + Cassette to MP3 ConverterSo far, I’ve digitized more than 80, 90 minute mix tapes that were on Maxell cassettes. Sound quality is pretty good, all things (like the 40+ year old cassette recordings) considered.Pro tips:If available, use another machine to rewind the tape’s side A. This might lessen the wear and tear on the K7 and also sets up the tapes to be digitized, which helps to keep the process moving along smoothly. Almost all of your tapes will need to be rewound. Before digitizing, check each cassette to make sure sound quality is as good as you’ll need. The K7 has a small speaker sufficient for this. Most of mine were in good shape but 5 or 6 were not digitized because their sound quality was so poor.Consider moving your most important cassettes to the front of the line for digitizing. Sound quality is likely to diminish over time as you’re dragging dirty, antique, cassette tape over the tape head.If you have many tapes to digitize, consider setting alarms on your phone to remind you to move the process along every 50 minutes or so, depending on the length of your tape being digitized.I was able to digitize 3+ 90 minute tapes on battery alone. However, keep the unit plugged in when possible. Interrupted recordings create more work.If you digitize multiple tapes onto the 16gb card, it can be easy to lose track when it’s time to rename the new mp3 files created. I tended to digitize a couple of cassettes, rename the files, move to HDD, rinse, repeat. Each side of your cassette will be digitized into one mp3. Scan the J card if you want to have a digital record of the songs on each mp3. (When you made the original recording you filled out the included J card that came with the blank cassette, right?)Save the tapes until you verify the recordings. You are then free to unburden yourself of the cassettes you’ve dragged around for years!Good Luck!

As others have said, this is a pretty great device for preserving your old mix tapes and whatnot. Honestly I would prefer a desktop device for that task, since I don't really want to revisit the "Walkman" days of carrying around a kind of bulky tape player to listen to music. I'll stick to using my phone which will always be with me anyway. But this is a nice solution to "ripping" your old cassette tapes.

I wanted to transfer old cassettes to MP3 and this works a treat. Insert the provided SD card, press 'play' then 'record', it stops automatically at the end of the tape. Slight hiss on the recording (all tapes do that) which can easily be filtered via available software.

Easy, out of the box conversions using Audacity. Worked so well the project expanded to include 35 y.o. cassettes. With the quality of the transfer very work in Audacity was needed.

KLIM K7 Cassette Tape Player + Cassette to MP3 Converter + Portable Cassette PlayerMy husband and I have kept a double tape deck/CD player (the size of an old VHS player) so that we could "someday" copy all the cassette tapes we've saved from our younger days. My husband has been a nightclub DJ for almost 30 years, so some of those mix tapes from his early days are quite sentimental. But we never dig that tape deck out of storage, and the tapes have been just sitting there. It never even occurred to me to look for a device like this KLIM player. The algorithm just popped it up on my screen and I immediately ordered it.What a genius solution for a problem so many Gen Xers have. The speaker on the front is about what you'd expect on a device like this......not primo for listening to music for enjoyment, put really useful for determining what's on the cassette you're going to record to digital file. The manual is easy to understand and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that there is no app necessary. It's a clean shot from the cassette to the SD card to my computer. Simple and effective. The quality of sound from the recording, in my opinion, is as good as the tape from which you're copying it. So, if you were going to listen to the cassette itself just for fun, the recorded digital version sounds just like that. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's really, really hard to open the player to put a tape in. There is a tiny tab on the right side that you should be able to use to flip the front open. I really struggle to get it open every. single. time. This makes recording a series of tapes really frustrating when I have to open the player repeatedly. An EJECT button to force it open would have been useful. But still, this serves a wonderful purpose without taking up a lot of storage space (when not in use) or complicating the file transfer. Now.....I just have to remember where I stored the rest of my cassettes....
