I live in a place with a lot of feral cats, and they freely use my planters and other sandy places in my yard. A child's sand box would surely be a target so I've always been afraid to set one up. When I saw this one, I thought I would give it a try, because it's such a beautiful box with the striped awning and folding bench seats. I's much bigger than the plastic sand box that comes with a plastic lid. It smells like cedar, but I have no idea what type of wood this is. The assembly takes time but it's a beautiful addition to my back yard and I'm really pleased with it.

Assembly was slightly more complicated than expected, but overall easy enough. Wish the wood would not be perfumed - it has a strong cedar perfume applied - not sure why that is needed. Overall the design and look is cute. Probably mostly for kids 1-5 as it's pretty small.

did take a while with all the screws to put it together, but the final result was very good!!

This product was not what I expected! The screws and hinges were too small and when the benches/cover was opened and close just a few times the screws fell out. I DO NOT like this product.

Building it took a bit of knowledge, but we managed in 2 hrs. The wood feels strong and stands up to daily play. We got 5 bags of 50lb sand, filling it to a comfy height for our son. Surprisingly, it could fit 3 more bags easily, yet with 5 bags, it's far from empty. Totally satisfied with this purchase!
