My son and I are working through our Winter 35 in the Catskills which means a lot of hiking on steep icy terrain. The size S fit his size 3 keen hiking boots well. The problem with the sizing chart is that the low end is ridiculous--the difference in physical size from a 13.5 to a 5 is tremendous and no stretch rubber could accomodate that. The S range is more like 1.5 or 2 to 5 at most. Grip wise, they are comparable to my own K***toolas and taking them on/off is similar. Compared to the K***toolas the chain/link material is a LOT thinner (the blue is the kids' spikes, the red are mine) though. We're very diligent about not putting the spikes on until necessary, then not stepping on rocks or bare ground if avoidable until they're off again. If you just strap your kid in and let him run all over frozen ground or rocks they'll get destroyed just like tire chains on dry pavement. We have about a dozen days in them and the links have come apart and needed pliers'd back twice, and one of the toe bars is totally MIA now (doesn't seem to matter). Also the carry bag is garbage. At the end of the day, though, for the money I think they're decent, and I don't know that there's a really high quality kid's option. The K***toolas will probably last 4 times longer so if you have that sizing choice and hike a lot, it's likely better to just buy once cry once.

These cleats allowed our granddaughter to full enjoy winter hiking and exploring while providing exceptional traction in snow and ice. They fit perfectly over her boots.

Used them on a recent trip to Iceland. My son is 6 and he was able to put them on by himself after I showed him the first time. They look and work great!

Ordered the kids small for my 5yr old daughter who have size 11 shoe size. I was worried they would be too big but actually worked great and will for a couple of years. Also comes with a strap and a carry bag. We went on a hike and needed them today and no tripping and no slipping. Super happy about our purchase😀

I have a 9 toddler snow boot & hiking boot. This did not fit snugly & was quite loose on the heel.I have seen another toddler spike (some random overseas brand) which has multiple chain segments instead of just one chain segment like this one. See the side chains of this spike to find out what I mean. Hence, the other one is more flexible i.e. less likely to break with rough use (assuming good materials & workmanship). That is how the adult Kahtoola micro spikes are also designed. The Kahtoola microspikes cost 75 vs 25 for the random knock offs on Amazon.The other spike is also loose like this one, but has better chains. So, I cant recommend any alternatives. I wish there was a brand that actually fit 9 toddler.

They grip very well. Did not come out at all for the 11 km hike. The rubber part is very hard to stretch. Got a size s and the shoes my daughter wore them with are a size 12. They seemed better quality than my adult ones.

My daughter is size 1 (big kid) and the small size fit her well (pictured). My hiking boots are US women’s size 6 and the medium size fit me very well and worked great for a hike.
