This would be a 4 or 5 star item, except that the sizing is not correct. It is way too small. Parts of it, inconsistent. I ordered 2 sets, one for my 10 year old and one for my 8 year old, same size. However, the color my 8 year old wanted turned out to be smaller than the one my 10 year old was wearing. Remember they are the same size items but one was smaller than the other. Other than that, they do provide decent protection in all the essential areas, arm, knees, back and chest.

The knee pads and arm pads are a bit long for my five year old, who is a tad short for his age, but otherwise is a perfect fit. So unless your 3 or 4 year old is the height of the average 5yo, you might not be able to adjust the elbow/arm pads and the knee/shin pads to fit both comfortably and provide protection. So do yourself a favor and do the measurements beforehand just in case.All the pieces are easy to put on, remove, and clean. It has not only provided him with decent protection from falls, but has given him the courage to try things he was otherwise too scared to try. Worth it for the fact he knows he'll be able to get up again after he falls down.

Great quality for this type of an item I got this for my son. He’s just about to start riding a 50 and he really needed the chest protectors and stuff. This quality is high and top-notch. I know it’s gonna keep him safer than without and I’m really happy with this item.
