I have several of these and just purchased two more for other rooms. (we can't be too careful with our lives)No false alarms, easy to install. Infact these fit easily over the older replaced KIDDE brand I purchased a few years ago, but I'm updating. They won't go off near the bathrooms if you take steamy showers. Easy to clean, clear voice warnings. Well worth the cost.

UPDATE: 4 Months in and some issues. The detector mfc: Oct 31, 2021 still functions and alarms for smoke when there is smoke from oven burn. But in June now it decided to alert Fire and alarm non stop. No one is cooking nor any fire source near by. Tried moving it outside and hushing it. But it just comes back on and blaring alarm. I also notice complaints from other family members saying it was alarming for no reason after a couple months after install. The hush or ignoring it eventually corrected itself, so I assumed it was minor false alert at first.Now, having experience this false alarm myself I don't doubt the bad reviews about this issue of malfunctioning alarm within months of owning it. It may be a batch problem but no recalls from Kidde. I found a temp fix so far by removing the batteries and letting it sit powered off for awhile. I reinserted and tested it through device test function, and everything seems in order again with no more false alarming yet for a day.Others may want to try the newer 9th Edition of this product to see if it solves these issues. I still trust the brand for now as it does function with smoke around. But if false alarms keep going off non stop I will say this model is not so good.ORIGINAL:I replaced my 10yr old Kidde Nighthawk dual detector that used 3x AA Batteries, it usually lasts quite awhile before beeping and letting me know to change the battery. It hasn't alerted me yet to replace the alarm but I figured it was time as it has been over 10 years old and has yellowed a bit. It always was reliable on smoke detecting when I had it for years. Reviews for Kiddle brand is also up there for CO detecting from car exhaust as test subjects. This has helped me decide to go with Kiddle Brand AGAIN!This detector came with a red shower cap over the device to protect it from wear before first use. This newer version uses 2 AA Batteries that come preinstalled with a plastic insert you have to pull out to activate the already installed batteries. A loud audible beeps lets you know it is now powered. The batteries will usually last you awhile before you have to replace the them with a fresh set.My old Nighthawk mount didn't quite fit this New Kiddle model. The designs were very close. I just drilled another hole in the New mount to fit the existing holes in the ceiling that held the old mount. The NEW mounting holes are a bit closer at 3" apart. The OLD mounting holes were 3.25" apart. So drilling a small hole right next to the edge of the long side mount hole was perfect.The version with the Voice Alerts is especially helpful in addition the the blinking light. Slow traditional fire alarm beeps followed by announcement " FIRE, FIRE, FIRE!" and repeats. For CO warning it beeps faster 4x I believe then announces "Warning, Carbon Monoxide!" They come with a mute button that temporarily silences the audible alarm for a few mins.Stick with Kiddle brand over these cheaper generic brands with fancy displays and lame WIFI capabilities. I wouldn't trust those with my life.

Good quality, easy to install. Bought to replace one I broke knocking off ceiling, as it went off every time someone opened the bathroom door after a shower. This one can handle the steam! Doesn’t even go off when someone takes a shower with door open!

Detector was very easy to install and setup out of the box. I like that it announces the difference between a fire and carbon monoxide through voice notification along with the audible alarm.My one gripe hence the 4 stars is that it was easily set off by shower steam. Our bathroom is adjacent to our bedroom so the detector is right in between. While I was taking a steamy hot shower I heard very loudly outside the door “SMOKE DETECTED” followed by the blaring alarm. Now that’s awesome that it’s nice and loud and I know the thing works but it will be frustrating if everytime I want to take a hot shower I have to remove it from the ceiling lolBottom line is it works, it’s easy to install, and I like the audible voice differentiating the type of alarm, I just wish it wasn’t set off by steam.

Well this is the 2nd kiddie brand alarm I have bought that didn’t even last a year the last one I bought from lowes and it was just a smoke detector still pretty expensive I would say for a smoke detector but I thought this was a reliable brand well It died before a year was up so I bought this one in February it was a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector that had a voice alarm supposedly an upgrade from my last one well this one lasted 3 months before it started chirping every few minutes for no reason I took it down it it said that if it was chirping the way that it was it was signiling that there is a fault in the detector orbits the end of its working like I have had no fires or smoke inhalation in my home what so ever for it to just stop working. Of course it’s pass the 30 days and I can’t return it and I emailed the manufacturer throught the link on here and nothing ! So I wouldn’t trust this brand when it comes to something that is meant to save your life in the event of a fire their products seem faulty and so far the customer service is non existent.! This is the last Kiddie product I ever buy and I will be sure to let my friends and loved ones know not to buy their products either. This isn’t just some random not really important purchase these are live saving devices that are suppose to be reliable and it’s a matter of safety for you and your loved ones. Please get your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors from a company that actually cares if their products work or at least one that will respond to you concerns through an email
