These are small and light enough to have multiples on a keyring. Unfortunately, after using for a few days, there is a real issue when a breaking force is not perpendicular to the face of the magnet (i.e snapping the two halves). This could be improved in the design, by increasing the depth of the key of the 'male-female' parts (no laughing at the back). When holding weight inline with the magnets (i.e. pulling apart), then the clearly stated holding rating of "up to 3lbs" (1.36kg) was indeed confirmed by adding a measured 1.39kg. However, when the load is inline with the face of the magnet (i.e. snapping the halves) then the load at which it breaks drops below 450g - a third of the rating. 450g is too low to be safe - you will lose items taking this in and out of pockets. A max 2-2.5kg rating (pulling apart) with a snapping/angled rating of 1-1.5kg, would be ideal.

Love the strength of the magnet!!! Not worried about it disconnecting and falling off accidentally. It does just what I wanted it to-hold my car key from my house keys for when I donโt need to bring all my keys with me! ๐

I do like this quick connect key ring, but the magnet is not strong enough to hold together if you clip your keys to your belt or belt loop.I wanted a quick-disconnect for a single key that I use during my workday but I need to lift and move heavy packages and the single key fell off on the first day of usage. It is probably OK for a normal keychain for car or house keys, but I wouldn't trust putting a car key fob on it for fear of losing it.I'm going back to the KeySmart Key Carabiners - Quick Release Dual and Mini Carabiners which have never fallen off my belt loop

I use to have my 2 keys on a carabiner, until I lost B as I took A off. B does not need to be removed often, but it does on occasion. I added this magnet system, to secure B. I bought this in 2022, now in 2024, the magnet slipped out of the housing and the good ole carabiner saved me. The magnets are strong - yeah! But that means they stick to anything metal, and maybe all that yanking finally yanked it out of the housing. :( I was going to try superglue, but the magnet was gone before I got to it. I am undecided if I will try this again or keep looking.

This is a product I imagined would be helpful, then checked on Amazon to discover it already exists. I like to take a nice after-work stroll when I get home. I only need the apartment key to get in and out, not my bulky car key or anything else. It was annoying to walk with a clump of keys jabbing me in my pocket.I realized I could also add on additional keys on rings, by connecting the magnets through the ring of the third key. Like my mailbox key which I donโt always need, but it can just join the party easily and all stay together.Pocket space is at a premium, take only the keys you need. But will it fall apart spontaneously in your purse pocket? No - that magnet is strong. So strong that when detached it will stick to the key ring or anything else that magnets stick to. But not an issue.Detaching is so easy, just yank apart and youโre free. Now Iโm cruising the neighborhood with less bulk in my pockets, and a spring in my step.

I ordered these and begun using them late July 2024 and I am now on the last one of the pack. They have all developed a hairline crack and or the magnet came out. I used them daily for my keys and they are kept on a lanyard that I remove when I get off work. Functionality is great but would have like them to be stronger and last longer. Size is excellent and it looks great but I canโt use these again as I am worried I will lose my keys now.

I've had this for maybe 3 days. Days 1 & 2 were perfect. It seemed strange to me that they appeared to be very sturdy, despite being easy to remove when needed.I'm a flatbed truck driver & wear my keys on my belt. For the first two days, I wore these during the work day with no issue, despite moving around, crawling under the trailer. They seemed sturdy. I have 2 of these, one for the key to my car & the other for a little metal folding comb.On day 3, today, I pulled over on the side of the road while out of town to walk around my trailer to check on my load & tighten any straps that may have come loose. Once done, I reach down for my comb & don't feel it. I look around and find it on the ground. Don't know how or why it fell off. I go to put it back and realize that my key fob is also missing! I find it on the other side of my trailer, on the ground near the road! Both magnets had also picked up all kinds of tiny magnetic rocks that were a pain to clean off. I put my keys back on, quickly finish my load check & hit the road. By the time I get to where I'm going, I realize that my comb had fallen off AGAIN! It was nowhere in my truck, which means it had to have fallen off again before I climbed back into the driver's seat.I don't know how or why they fell off but I'm just glad that I didn't lose my probably $200 key fob. I can't keep using this product in good conscience. I would return for a refund if only I weren't missing a part.

These are intended for keys, but I got extras for use with other items. When I first saw their small size in person, I was concerned about their pull-strength being too weak to keep my keys secure, but they actually require significant force to separate. Not insurmountable (much more and I think they would become somewhat impractical for their intended use), just enough to make sure they won't pull apart unless you tug on them quite firmly. If you have doubts, I highly suggest you test them for yourself and see -- it feels kind of like breaking a sturdy piece of string. The manufacturer states that it's 3 lb; I've yet to test how close mine are to that value, but it leads me to believe that other products I was looking at for this purpose would be far too strong, at 7 lbs (ones intended for retaining a fishing net when wading through a river). I think KeySmart made the right choice with their design. My keys are on a KeySmart Classic, attached to a lanyard with this item. For those who have lots of padlocks (collectors, or people who are into locksport, aka lockpicking), these can also be used to attach keys to shackles and still be able to remove them without having to first unlock the lock. It's a bit expensive at ~$10 per padlock, but given how few good storage options there are for keeping keys for a box full of padlocks organized, it's not a bad option.I also plan on removing the small keyrings from the mag connectors and simply threading some paracord through them, allowing them to be used as breakaway clasps for wearing around the neck. Any mag connector with more than 3 pounds of force to separate would probably be a detriment to safety for such a purpose, but I think these will work quite well in that role -- enough to keep it secure from slight tugging, but easy enough to remove when necessary. The way the magnets are recessed into the connectors also seem that they're designed to avoid pinch points. You have to really be trying for them to pinch, and even then, it's pretty minimal (again, might be a problem if they were any stronger). There are other uses I've been toying with, like retaining things on a backpack, perhaps hanging light items from a desk (headphones, cords, controllers, etc.), or for replacing light-duty buckles on other sorts of gear/straps, but I'd have to do some testing with those before recommending anything too specific. I imagine they would be quite good for EDC stuff in general, like attaching small items to belts, pouches, to clips on garments with MOLLE, etc.All-in-all, I think they're well worth the price that you get buying them in bigger packs (currently, sets of 3, at ~$10 per unit), and useful enough that I believe you should be able to find homes for them, whether you can use your imagination to come up with something, or simply gift them.
