This Kestrel meter does it all. The Kestrel 5500 measures every environmental condition plus wind direction, crosswind and headwind/tailwind. Use it golfing, sailing, flying, spraying, shooting and more. Drop-proof, dust-proof, waterproof and able to withstand extreme environments without damage, this Kestrel weather meter travels with you anywhere you dare to go. A range of optional carry pouches makes it even easier to take your Kestrel meter with you.
Go beyond just seeing the current conditions
In addition to measuring the current environmental conditions, the Kestrel 5500 tracks and logs over 10,000 sets of time-stamped data. The true versatility of the Kestrel 5500 becomes apparent with the addition of the Kestrel Vane Mount.
This precision-engineered accessory securely mounts the Kestrel 5500 to any tripod or other ¼-20 fitted bracket. Once mounted, the Kestrel 5500 becomes a full-featured weather station – with a large wind vane and precision pivot keeping the Kestrel oriented into the wind for continuous measurement and logging of wind speed, wind direction, and all other key weather parameters.

First things first, the unit I received was most definitely used. Seems to be in great shape, but definitely used. No issues so far. I will update later this week whether it matches up to other kestrels at the range.

Pretty accurate device. The only issue is that the air temperature reading is slow to adjust when the winds are calm, especially if you take the device from inside a warm house out into the cold. Point the thermistor into the wind and the temperature will adjust more quickly.Update: I recently visited the summit of Mt. Washington and got to test this Kestrel meter. The altimeter and barometer adjusted perfectly as we ascended the auto road to the summit at 6288'. Works fine at 800 millibars and in strong winds. Altimeter matched the altitude marked on poles along the road.

Really simple to use and customizable to show what you need, when you need it. The digital compas is spot on making it very useful when loggin in your data book.
