Solid state variable speed controls are designed to replace obsolete tapped windings chokes rheostats and other methods which are currently being used to obtain speed variations. The controls are available with an internal on/off line switch and are also available with an optional third lead which can be used to control auxiliary circuits such as relays and indicator lamps. A wall mounting kit is available which includes dial plate knob mounting strap hardware and instructions.

The switch was the perfect size and works great! The only negative is that there is no label on it to identify it if it fails. I kept the original one for identification if the new fails.

This is the fan control for my wood stove blower. It's the correct part, but they don't seem to last. I've had to replace it several times in the ~15 years I've had the stove. The last one before this was ordered in 2023.

The plastic piece that the knob goes on puncher the envelope; and it was protruding out of the envelope. The package used was not appropriate for breakable item. I was glad to find a similar replacement.

I shorted out the old control for my Pacific Energy Super insert and bought this to replace it. I didn't notice until after I ordered this is the wrong part number but it still fit and works fine. I call that a win.

I have a Broan 690 air extractor in a very small bathroom and it is very noisy, the room is small and the extractor is over sized, so I used this speed control (frequency variator) to make it run a little slower, hence less noisy, but still providing enough air flow.It was very easy to install and works nicely. I just installed, so let's see how long it lasts. The part did not include any instructions, but product datasheet can be found here: [...]

I installed this speed control in some fan coil units (a radiator with a fan behind it). The fans hummed a bit at first as they sped up, but once up to speed, they operated without hum. The fans were overall quieter than when I used a light dimmer as a speed control, but not as quiet as when I used a variable resistor (rheostat). The ability to set the lowest speed is a useful option because it can prevent the fan from stalling.
