I bought this for my Syrian hamster because we just got her a new cage (her old cage had a built in wheel that was terribly loud) and she didn’t seem to care for the wheel that came with her new cage. This wheel is a little hard to get on, but once it’s on its secure. My hamster after about a week or two has not brought bedding into the wheel (as wheel as food) and so when she’s not running all night she’s sleeping or eating in the wheel; has a whole huge cage and just wants to stay in the wheel unless she has to use the bathroom or get some water or more food to stash. Safe to say she loves and approves of this wheel! It does make noise but it’s much more tolerable than others, so five stars from me and Rose!

I really like this wheel and so do my two mice. I have read the reviews left by others and it seems like ppl think you need tubes to connect this wheel to the cage, which is not the case. This wheel will snap on the bottom hole of a kaytee cage without a problem. We have two 2 level cages and have used it on a one level kaytee cage and had no issues connecting the wheel directly to the cage or have it fall off. Maybe those that said they needed a tube have an earlier version? I have read online that you should not have an axelled wheel for tailed creatures, like mice and rats, but I've not seen my mice have any issues using this wheel and they spend hours running on them. The wheels do need frequent cleanings. I've had no problem taking them apart to give them a nice through cleaning. So far no broken parts. Even if these were to break I would buy them again. They are a real space saver and very quiet. I also like the poop bin that it comes with. There is nothing worse than hearing poop flying along as the wheel spins and knowing your pet's poop is raining down on him...Gross.

Great way to make cages more roomy for our Winter White hamsters. Fits on Kaytee critter cages perfectly snaps easily on side holes. Very quite almost no noise at all much better than the standard interior wheel that comes with the cages. Find that our hamsters can run on the wheels much easier because they don't fly out of the wheel when they get going too fast, also seem to run for longer periods of time.

This wheel is great. Its quiet and works very well. Our only issue could be from our hamsters. We have two sister dwarfs that are inseparable and for whatever reason they like to poop in the wheel. The bottom has a "poop catcher" (we call it) little tray to catch this stuff but its so small it overflows daily. We have attached a small sandwich bag under it to catch whatever they decide to do in there otherwise its going all over the floor. Its easy to clean and attach and is super quiet and easy for them to run in. Just pray they dont bring food, poop or shavings in there!

Bigger than I expected. Attaches to my crittertrail starter easily. My syrian loves it. It cleans easy too. It is a little loud but I dont mind. My syrian is a little lazy so the noise lets me know she's ok lol no complaints here. The little catcher thingy works good too. Only a few pieces of bedding fly out every now and then but no waste ever. So 5 stars in my eyes

I have a Russian winter white dwarf hamster and it fits her just fine. I would be wary on using this if you have a Syrian hamster (alternate names golden hamster, black bear hamster, teddy bear hamster.) Syrians are the largest breed for hamsters and must have a 11in wheel or bigger no exceptions!! Anything smaller and will cause back problems, arthritis, and rarely break their backs in the smaller wheels. The only exception is if you have very small Syrian (4in long), but wait till they are six months old to see their full growth. Then this wheel will be ok. This is good for dwarf hamsters, Chinese hamsters, and mice. The wheel will come in assorted colors. You don’t get to pick the colors. This is just how critter trail products are. The wheel is quiet and turns freely. Make sure when you attach it to tube that is it properly supported or it will pop off the tubes. You don’t want your hammy to escape. The wheel is hard to clean. Hammys also confuse it for a den and stuff if full of bedding. Mine does not do that. So get a pair pliers and very carefully pinch the clip on the outside together and the wheel comes apart. Then it’s super easy to clean. Repeated pinching the clip after a while will break one of pins off. Don’t worry it will still work with only half the clip and will make it even easier to get a part now. It will break completely eventually, so buy a new one when it does or you can fix is will a dowel rod, screw, and a hatch pin clip. My wheels, this one and my silent spinner will make noise after being washed. The easy fix is lube the axel with Pam, or small amount of WD40, or dish soap. The wheel will be silent again. Doing this should make any wheel much quieter. My hamster does not like it when a seed gets in there with her. It makes too much noise. People do complian that the waste does not collect everything. This is just apart of being a hamster owner, if having to sweep up a small amount of poopies or wood shavings off the floor bothers you dont get a hamster. lol :) Do empty the waste cup every day too. Make sure to snap it all the way into place or the handle on it will rub on the wheel making a loud clanking noise.

The main reason I bought this was because my old wheel attached to the wire cage was rather loud. I thought this would be quieter and give me more room in the cage but out of the package it isn't. As another review wrote, you can fix this with a washer or in my case some teflon tape rolled up and made into a washer. The wheel is a little loose on the axle which not only makes a rattling sound but shakes my whole wire cage which only adds to the noise. With the washer, it is much quieter with much less rattling. The hamster LOVES it! I was concerned that he may not find it but I hooked it all up with some tubes and as soon as I left the room he was running on it. It seems to have more room than his old wheel. He runs for hours on it at night!
