This has served my rats very well as a home to hide away in. It can actually be cleaned easily also. Keep in mind, its made out of wood so eventually it will need to be thrown away because of the way rats and other rodents live because of nibbling / using the bathroom on it. It also requires no tools, just fitting together 5 parts. So easy to put together a small child would be able to do it. Pictures attached are of a fully grown rat for scale.

These are decently priced for what you receive. I much prefer these wooden huts, as I have rats and they constantly chew. I would much rather they chew wood instead of bits of plastic from igloos or sputniks. My only complaints with this and similar products is that wood absorbs urine and will become stained and smelly after long term use. This product does not have a floor, which is an excellent design choice to avoid excessive urine build up on the interior, which could be very detrimental to animals with sensitive respiratory tracts such as rats. They do enjoy lounging on the tops however, so the tops do have this absorption issue and get nasty quick. These huts will also fall apart fairly easily after the rats have chewed the corners where it connects. Once this happens, I simply spread the pieces out and rearrange them when I clean cages. They still utilize the pieces as chew toys, even if its no longer a hut.

There is no bottom, which may be a pro or con depending on your cage. Also my chinchillas chewed the whole thing apart so it is no longer a hut. I wish the basic shape was glued together so he wouldn't be able to take it apart.

Got this to use as a nest for my parakeets. I like the fact that it's easy to take apart to clean or put away when not needed. Also like that I can make my own base for it and that is has a large opening. It was easy to put together. Comes with clear picture instructions but is easy to figure out without them. Seems well made and doesn't smell strongly. Doesn't seem to have many splinters but I'll probably still sand it down to be safe. Would buy again if it's on sale for $10 like it is now. Most parrot nests are $20 or more and are a pain to clean out. I added a picture of the only real flaw I found which was a corner that looked chipped but it doesn't affect anything it's just cosmetic. Size wise I'd say it's too small for anything bigger than a single guinea pig if even that. Tall enough for a chinchilla but not really wide enough for anything other than a single chinchilla to sleep in. Perfect for a Syrian hamster, rats, gerbils. I'll try to update the post if/when my parakeets start using it.

Easy and quick to assemble. Very sturdy and plenty of places for them to chew, chew, chew!

Let me first start out by mentioning I purchased the Chin Hut for 1 of my Syrian hamsters. I never know what to expect until things arrive. The price was right it was wooden and a hide, little did I know I'd have to assemble it, I missed that part but I honestly wasn't looking. All the pieces slide together easily enough but not so easily it falls apart. Worst case you bust out a hammer to help guide things in the right place.I'm trying to figure out where the 2019 reviewer said there were nails. This is all wood and not pre-assembled. Maybe they changed this product since? I purchased mine in 2021.I haven't given my Syrian her new hide as it's not cleaning day yet and I've decided I love the hide so much that her sister had to have one as well. So I just placed an order for a 2nd Chin Hut. This is a large hide for a hamster but I honestly think it's quite prefect. I think that it might be a little on the small side for a chinchilla unless they like small spaces.I have no idea if my girls will chew their new huts but i know they'll love them!! I can't wait to find out and will update my review.

Tres belle petite cabane ! Convient pour deux jeunes rats. Un peu petit pour un chinchilla. Belle finition. Arrive en kit a monter. Tres facile a monter mais attention fragile.

So I LIKE this hut, but I don't LOVE it. I have two female chinchillas and It's the only one I found that is OKAY. I thought it would be bigger, but it's only the size for ONE female to BARELY fit in to it (which is typically larger than males) but BOTH want in it LOL -- So I ended up having to rush deliver another one to calm the chinchin storm!!Anyway...The wood was easy to slide into place even though there was NO DIRECTIONS that came with it, I figured it out even though I'm not a typically logical sort of person...I thought there would be a bottom piece though, and if there was supposed to be, I did not get it. I don't like that because my Chinchillas have an all metal cage (as recommended since they chew through EVERYTHING... and so I had to put down plastic (which they promptly started to chew--UGH) because there was no bottom to rest their tiny little feet after walking on the grating all night.BUT they LOVE to be in it (just not to share ;) ) so I can't complain about that... In short... :1) Should be a little bigger, only good for ONE female to squeeze in to (how she does it, I don't know lol!)2) No directions, Who does that??3) No bottom piece??4) BUT my Chinchins LOVE it, so it's a WIN in my book.5) I LIKED it enough to order another one. Make sure you buy one/Chinchilla or else there will be fights over it!!***EDIT*** =So these two huts (I purchased two) are SO incredibly cheap, the second one I ordered the wood wasn't cut properly so it didn't sit properly in the cage. Ultimately that made it really easy for my chinchillas to push it around. Both of the huts fell from the first ledge onto the bottom of the habitat safely, but the weight of the chinchillas sitting on top of the side panel cracked them in half. Both of my huts are broken now, being used as platforms to sit on rather than to sleep in.I would not recommend this to anyone, because they didn't even last a week. Coming pre flawed just expedited the inevitable.I wouldn't of minded if the wood was chewed through or what not... With chinchillas that is to be expected... But the flimsy design makes it to where this hut really isn't safe or suitable for any animal, let alone a fat furry-butted chinchin ;)I'm ditching the wood and looking for metal or plastic huts... Anything that is bound to last longer than a week like these.

The entire size is just enough for him! The entrance looks a little bit smaller for him! But he has solved the problem by him own. He has chewed to make it fit himself. Ha!The only problem is he keeps chewing this house whenever he has time. I would be surprised if one day it disappeared!
