Made for high heat, these semiconductor regulators rarely fail. I found on Kawasaki engines, recent manufacture takes the regulator ground wire to the plastic engine housing and relies on a bolt head to make the ground. Over time (5-years) the plastic under the ground lead can soften and corrosion can make its way between the bolt head and ground lead eyelet.Best to fabricate a new ground lead (8") and attach to a convenient starter bolt head. Before replacing this part, check your small ground wire that goes from the regulator to the motor. It is bolted to the motor over a plastic casing, and in my case, the problem ended up being that the grounding ring terminal had melted into the plastic and wasn't grounded anymore. I starred at it for a couple minutes trying to figure out how it was possible before I realized it was melted in. I was getting no reading when I first put on the replacement part, but if I checked the 12+ to the chassis of the mower it read ~13V. I ran a new ground wire after peeling the original one out of the plastic, and it worked fine. My old part may have been fine too.

junk bought 2 one lasted about 5 min. the other didn't work at all. cant get ahold of amazon to get my money back either. amazon junk
