Havent been able to use yet due to frozen waters but here my initial impressions of this Kast King Kovert 100% fluorocarbon line. 1st thing i noticed about it is how thin it is compared to Seaguar red label of the same rating. In fact 15lb Kovert checks in at the same diameter as 12lb red label (.012in). Because of its smaller diameter it handles better than 15lb red label. I did some break tests pulling against an overhand knot and it felt like it broke with less force than the thicker red label. If there is a negative about a thinner line is obviously there is less material to cushion knots and buffer against abrasion. So the weaker knot strength is not surprising. Again this is all by feel and i have not used it on the water yet. I will update accordingly with actual use. Overall, its a very clear and thin fluoro line which handles great for its line rating compared to thicker fluoro lines.

I own a LOT of trout fishing rigs. Sixteen by my last count. The vast majority are loaded with 6# braid and topped with 6# fluorocarbon leaders. My go-to fluoro for said leaders has always been Berkley Vanish, but I’ve been willing to consider alternatives. KastKing is an established brand with a solid reputation so I ordered a spool of 6# to give it a try. Straight off the spool the line has a minimum amount of memory and a smooth consistent feel in my hands. It knots well, both to terminal tackle and in braid-to-fluoro connections. I tied a couple of jigs (pictured) to each end of a 2’ length of the KastKing fluoro using Uni-knots. Then, holding a jig in each hand, I pulled the jigs outward until the line broke (not surprisingly, at one of the knots). I don’t have the proper tool to measure the maximum pressure I was able to exert, but I was EXTREMELY pleased and I’m inclined to believe it was at or near the 6# rating. Trout and smallmouth season will get into high gear in another month or two and I’m excited to try this fluoro out on some hefty fish. The price point for the Kast King ($10.49 for a 150 yard spool) is more expensive than the Berkley, but I suspect it may perform even better than the Berkley thus justifying the additional cost. For now, this line easily earns five stars.

25lb line. Thinner than I expected and very transparent. Uni-Knot tied smooth. I've been happy with other Kastking line. Looks like another winner.

Nice and reasonably priced flourocarbon line. I use it as leader line connected to braid main line and it works great. Doesn't stretch as much as mono and less visible under water too. 25lb line is great for stripers and other bigger fish on the river.

This Kovert flourocarbon fishing line from KastKing is a good value and will make great leaders to attach to the braid lines I use for fishing using techniques such as the Ned Rig & Texas Rig as well as others. The main purpose of using a flourocarbon leader is for low visibility which makes it almost invisible in the water. This product has a PVDF resin treatment on it which gives it a much stonger stretch factor than mono line and also has good abrasion resistance to it. Another good advantage of using flourocarbon line is for it's great sensitivity compared to mono or braid lines so you can feel more bites and nibbles on the line which translates into a better hookup ratio. This product is 100% flourocarbon compared to other similar lines that are a mix of flouro and mono. Another great feature of using flourocarbon line is that it sinks quickly in the water which can really be an advantage when using light tackle and baits. The size of the plastic spool this line comes on is much larger than needed which will potentially make it a bit tricky to access the line off of for making leaders, but will not be an issue if spooling it onto a reel. I have numerous other KastKing products including clothing and it is all great quality at an affordable price. I therefore recommend this flourocarbon fishing line to all other anglers out there based upon the quality and low price.
