These willow pencils have a different consistency from charcoal pencils. They are excellent for doing an underrating for pastels, erase cleanly, allowing easy correction without disrupting paper texture.I'm very impressed and pleased with this purchase.

This willow charcoal pencil set it excellent if you like to work with this type of charcoal and don't mind that you cannot sharpen them with a sharpener. I typically use charcoal sticks I get at the store and have a charcoal holder that I use with them. They can still be messy if bouncing around in a bag, and that is where these come in. These solve the problem of having to keep your charcoal and holder in a plastic zip-bag to keep it from getting all over the inside of your bag—you can just toss these in with other pencils and pen box and they don't break and send charcoal all over your bag—which is perfect!

Very high-quality willow charcoal pencils. I am impressed. These are a definite keeper for me. I am not a professional nor a beginner but consider sketching a hobby. These are great for beginners. I recommend a knife and sandpaper to sharpen. Standard pencil sharpeners are far too harsh. Yes - Get these for your budding artist!

Caution! ‘Dark’, “Medium” and “Light” do not represent colour gradations. This is misleading - also due to the colouring on the outside of the wood. The colours indicate different degrees of hardness: dark = hard, medium = medium-hard, light = soft. Only sharpen with a knife, a sharpener will destroy the pencils.Achtung! "Dunkel" Mittel" und "Leicht" stellen keine farblichen Abstufungen dar. Dies ist irreführend - auch durch die Farbgebung am Holz außen. Es handelt sich bei den Angaben um unterschiedliche Härtegeade: Dark = hart, Mittel = medium-hart, leicht = soft. Nur mit Messer spitzen, ein Spitzer zerstört die Stifte.

These willow charcoal pencils are excellent for the price point! The charcoal marks smoothly and blends well, which is perfect for adding depth and contrast to sketches. While they may not perform at the same level as more expensive artist-grade pencils, they’re a fantastic option for beginners or for adding variety to your art supplies without breaking the bank. For such an affordable set, they’ve exceeded my expectations and brought new dimension to my drawings. Highly recommend for casual artists or anyone on a budget!

I have always loved working with willow charcoal and before these pencils did not realize that you get them in this form. I like that I can have the willow charcoal effect without having to get my hands quite as dirty. However, I had a bit of a learning curve. These cannot be sharpened with a regular pencil sharpener or they will just keep breaking. You have to use a sharp blade and sandpaper. While this requires some work, sketching with willow charcoal is incredible and it is worth the effort.

These did not contribute anything positive to the drawings I had used them on. The "lead" had so many breaks in each pencil that it made it almost impossible to use them at all. And the shade difference between them was hard to notice.
