I've always wanted a "dog whistle" that I could use to either train my dog or to repel vicious dogs that might come after me. I can definitely tell that it works because my dog reacts to it when I press the button, but I'm not convinced that this would "repel" a dog that was coming after me. The nice thing is that I can't hear it, so I know it's in the ultrasonic range. The problem is that if I had a vicious, mean dog barking at me while I was out and about, I don't think it would really do anything. I keep thinking that one of these devices would work like a shock collar or something, but I just don't see this thing doing that. At best, the vicious dog might turn it's head and look at you funny, the worst would be you relying on this thing to save your life, and the dog would gnaw on your bones and fling this thing over it's head as it's attacking. I would say it might distract....maybe....but if I'm using this to defend myself, I would get pepper spray or a tazer or something. Other people use it as a training device, and I could see this being a good tool for that.

This worked great as long as I did two things. First, I had to use it sparingly. Too much and it actually made the barking worse. Second, I had to make sure my dog didn't see it when I got it or used it. Just reaching for it at first was enough, but that wasn't really correcting the behavior when I or it wasn't around. I started keeping it in my pocket and giving a burst when needed to disrupt the behaviors. It worked great, and it didn't seem to hurt the dog at all. I would recommend it very much vs a shock collar. The battery holds well, the flashlight is bright and the price was great.

Walking with my dog used to be a complete nightmare. She would constantly pull on the leash, making it frustrating and exhausting for both of us. That’s when I decided to try the ultrasonic trainer, and it has been a total game-changer! So far, I’ve only used the beep mode paired with voice reinforcement, and it works amazingly well.
