My previous roll of this tape was a little wider, and it would peel and cut a little cleaner. The most recent roll I bought is not as wide, and the tape more often tears diagonally, which wastes tape and time. That said, I like this product. Great for repairing paperback books, with confidence that the tape will not yellow. It is indeed crystal clear, though it also picks up fingerprints on the adhesive side when you are handling it. I would have like to given this five stars, but I get the feeling that someone in a bean counting capacity apparently decided that it should be slightly less wide, and slightly less durable, which makes me a less satisfied customer. Why mess with success?Update: reducing my rating from four stars to two. At one time, I would have given it five stars. Then, as noted above, the tape was suddenly much thinner when we re-ordered. More recently, we ordered a roll of the 1 inch wide size, and this time the outside edges of the tape roll are sticky. The reason the sticky edges of the tape roll is a problem is that it causes the tape to pick up dust and lint while the tape roll is laying around waiting to be used. Then, when you peel the tape, the edges are darkened with the dust and lint. To prevent this, we now have to store the tape roll in a plastic bag when we're not using it, and we have to be careful where we set it down when we are using it. This has never happened before with this tape. What is happening to the quality of this product? My guess is some genius somewhere is figuring out how this company can "save costs" by reducing the quality of the product. I think we'll be searching for an alternative.Update 2: I just realized why I thought that this tape was originally thicker when we first bought it: it's because it was a different tape, the J-Lar brand, which has "clear to the core" printed inside the roll. We are returning the 1 inch wide tape with the stick-edges problem, and we'll be going back to the J-Lar product, which I am sure will be worth the extra money.

It works well for my application.The tape is very optically clear.It also accepts other sticky labels well.I use it to clear coat property labels.Then I need to stick another calibration due date label on to it.This stuff is slightly thicker than nominal scotch tape, making it more durable.
