The light brown color looks great untreated, colored, or stained and is easy to work with. For the best results, soak the reed before forming or using it. This 5/8 inch size is best for adding an extra embellishment to widen reed coils or baskets. The roll measures 118 feet (36 meters) long and 0.625 inches wide. I ordered this reed last year for a project and it was perfect. It went out of stock and now ordering it again it isn’t the same. I’ve had it break so many times. I’ve already started using it, so a return isn’t an option.

Youre suppossed to soak it before weaving but some of the strands just start to mush apart when they are soaked. I replaced those and then others started falling apart. Very frustrating. This definitely wouldnt last long as a basket anyways.

This looked great when I got it but warning, you can not wet it as it curls right away and you can’t bend it dry or it will break. I did manage to make a basket with just spraying it but the reed is thin and the basket flimsy

Worked well for woven wood stars - holiday decorations. Occasionally joint opened when soaked and bent, but was repaired with wood glue and clip.

Bought this reed to make my own tobacco basket. It’s a little thinner than I thought but that’s my fault for not understanding the dimensions. I did soak it to help bend it. It started to curl from the sides and I thought all was ruined but it did straighten back out after leaving it wrapped together. I wanted to age the basket with vinegar but was afraid to after it was together that it would curl again. If I bought more reed to make another basket it would be thicker and wider. But I figured I would keep going with the basket and it was nice to learn with this reed. It was less expensive than other kinds.

I thought I was buying quality basket weaving material and this is not it. This is extremely thin, like paper and is continuous so when you wet it to weave with it, it separates and curls. It was a complete waste of my money.
