Plugged in, the device does show the 'charging' sign, however, it is significantly slowed down. I've tried multiple wires, plugs, and devices. The fit is very snug but feels fragile. The items came with scratches and holes in the packaging, hopefully that's only cosmetic damage. Other adaptors I've gotten come in a foam cutout with more secure packaging.I don't like how much the connections stick out now - they cannot be left plugged in and put in a bag because they will snap off. When I tried to use one for my external wired keyboard, it had enough power to turn it on, but the keyboard would not actually work.

The JSAUX USB Data Blocker & USB-C Data Blocker (4-Pack) is a fantastic accessory for anyone concerned about data security while charging or connecting devices. This set includes both USB-A to USB-A and USB-C to USB adapters, providing great versatility for different devices. The transparent design is sleek and makes it easy to see the build quality, which feels durable and reliable. These blockers effectively prevent unauthorized data transfer, ensuring that only power is passed through when connected to public charging stations or shared USB ports. Compact and easy to use, this 4-pack is a smart investment for safeguarding your data while on the go. Highly recommended!

Even though the dimensions were listed in the description, they were smaller than I had envisioned when they arrived, in a good way. Highly portable, and looks quality, with a high-tech feel. While I can’t confirm that they are effective in their primary purpose of blocking an unwanted data transfer, I can confirm that they function great in being used for charging. I’ve used them with both a charging block and battery bank, and in both instances didn’t notice any sustainable, if any, decrease in charging time compared to with the charging source directly. Again, I haven’t been able to test the data blocking ability, but I’m assuming they do indeed function as advertised, and that hopefully not foolish trust, does give me peace of mind when charging my devices using public or other’s equipment. I debated getting this duel model, as this company also sells individual ones for each cable type, but I’m now happy that I did end up getting this one with both USB-C and USB-A ports. Very satisfied with this purchase.

This "data blocker" device plugs between some USB charger and your equipment (for example, your smart phone). I find them especially handy as a "security device" to protect my phone from being hacked when using a "charging station" supplied by some business. Such "hacking" is possible because most phones use the same USB port for charging that is also used for communication between the phone and other devices and computers. So if the "charging station" happens to have been modified by some criminal (and it is not always a criminal working for the company that is supplying the "charger"), the criminal now owns my device instead of me (and such a malicious "hack" can be completed in under a second's time). However, this "data blocker" can prevent this "hack" from succeeding (by blocking all USB data communications to your device). As a result, I keep this "data blocker" in my phone's case, so I always have it with me when traveling (so I can safely use chargers that some business have provided for my convenience). One minor disadvantage of this "data blocker" is that it prevents "fast charging". This is because the "fast charging" protocol requires communications between the charger and the device (to tell the charger how much additional power the device said it was safe to send them). And since this "how much extra power can I safely send you?" communication from the charger is blocked by this device, the charger will never switch from using its basic "slow charge" power levels. So when I really need "fast charging" I instead use my own charger (that I'm pretty confident hasn't been criminally modified) and just plug it into an available power outlet. But I do like keeping these "data blocker" devices around for situations where I don't fully control the charger I'm using. And I've also found these "data blockers" handy when I simply want to charge a computer (be it a phone or a laptop) without instantly triggering its data transfer protocols. For example, I have powered USB hubs connected to multiple computers around my home. And I sometimes want to use a free port on one of those hubs as a "charger" for one of our family's phones. But if I plug the phone directly into the hub, the phone and computer both think I want them to start a data transfer (not disastrous, because I can just tell both devices no data transfer, but this behavior is annoying). However, if I plug one of these "data blockers" between the USB hub and my phone I just get a basic "slow charge" and neither device thinks I want to start a data transfer.NOTE: The version of this "data blocker" devices I purchased was the 4-pack that contains 2 basic USB-A devices, and 2 devices designed for USB-C plugs/jacks. I use both of these devices. The USB-C devices are handy with my cell phone (and also slightly smaller to carry around than the USB-A devices), as I just plug them directly into my cell phone's USB-C jack and then plug the charging cable into the other end of this "data blocker". And the USB-A devices are handy when the "charger" comes with either a basic USB-A plug or USB-A jack (as I then just plug the "data blocker" directly into the "charger", and plug my cable between this "data blocker" and the device I want to charge).

I got these for travel, knowing that I might need to charge up phone via some random USB port that might be hacked. This thing makes that safe, by blocking any data transfer, and allowing only charging. I used several times & it worked exactly as expected. I also tested at home, just to be sure. Yes, it can charge, but not transfer any data. Perfect. Just what I wanted to protect against. My luggage was roughly handled (a lot) and so 1 of these blockers got bent. No review stars were subtracted because it still works OK, even bent. Strong.

TAKE THIS WITH A GRAIN OF SALT AS THIS IS TO SHOW A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING HOW THE PRODUCT WORKS. I bought a USB Cable Data Line Test Board which essentially shows if the cable supports a certain kind of data, this specifies also what cable it is if you look up the specs and internals of a cable. What I can state is by saying say both the data blocker and data line test board WORK!!I've tested many cables such as my 240W 40Gbps USB4 C cable (the best usb you can buy as of OCT 2024), USB3.0 A extender hubs, and others. Say you forgot to bring your charger, your at an airport and they have free usb charging stations, these are handy when it you are out and about so they can't steal data from your devices. It's a 4 pack of 2 each USB A to A and USB C to C, so you can keep one at home and along every jorney. I've added photos to show the data blockers with and without the cables/hubs while explaining whats happening. Although the photo with the certified apple cable that came with my iPhone doesnt change data LEDs, it doesn't prompt my desktop to "Allow this device to access photos and videos" which is a good sign.

I have only used the USB-A blocks so far; one of the blocks has a nice tight but smooth fit; the other one is a bit of struggle to insert my cable into the block. I have been mostly interested in the USB-A blocks because most hotels/airports/planes have that style of outlet. The description says the fast charge is specifically for USB-C, and they are correct; the charge time goes up by about 37% when using the USB-A block. Sort of disappointed it's that slow, but for peace of mind and convenience of not having to pull out a charge block it's worth it. Hopefully it keeps working. The build quality seems good.
