Bought for dad with dementia - was too small for him to use, priced too high for quality

I actually ordered this for my 5 year old - I realized it was probably going to be too difficult/challenging for him but I figured he can always grow into it. He does try but struggles to keep the ball out of the holes. He really likes watching the gears turn and it occupies him for a little bit anyway. He usually requests I do it. I found it to be challenging, myself, and difficult to read the numbers. It is kind of fun though and a great distraction from electronics.

This is such a great toy! My boys love it! Ages 7 and 5. It's tricky, but they figured out little tricks to do like tap in certain places to make it past the holes. My husband also likes it. Worth it!!

This was the worst example of a type of handheld pinball game I’ve seen. The ball was tiny n wud stick in places u cuddnt see. It did nothing to entertain r challenge one. Cheap trash!!

I bought this for my granddaughter and I think she’ll like it. I wish the numbers were easier to see

Playing with this toy, as designed, is probably above the level of most 5 year olds. There is a path through the maze marked by numbers from 1 to 24. The player needs to guide a little ball bearing through the course without letting it fall in any of the many holes along the way. Just the recognition of this number sequence places it out of reach for most pre-schoolers. There will be some exceptions, but I don't suspect many. The maze itself is challenging. Fine motor control and the ability to strategize are both needed for successful completion. But young kids with these skills can get mesmerized by this toy. The goal is easy to understand and many kids will find they are competing with themselves attempting to get further through the maze with each iteration. The toy itself is well-made and should have a long life short of accidental damage. It sets itself apart from any ball-maze toys in that along the path are many gears that must also be manipulated in order to move through the puzzle. An interesting twist in a very old toy concept.

This maze is designed very well and works perfectly. You have to turn the gear and tilt the toy to move the marble through the maze while dodging all the holes, and everything is perfectly aligned so the gears are really smooth. I have only been able to make it half way through, but my 8 year old was able to finish it after a few tries. There is only one way to go through the maze, moving from number 1 to 24, so it's not like a new game each time. But even after accomplishing it once, it's still a fun challenge to keep trying. It's a nice, quiet, portable toy that you can take anywhere and is fun for any age.
